I love the Iron Chef, but we get it from Japan, Amazing what they do with some unquestionable things I don't think would ever be on the menu here.
Great show, hope it succeeds over there and hope they do, do an American version, sometimes I gag at what the ingredients are |
Lisa, we got the Japanese version over here too and it was SO popular that they decided to do an American version.
I like the show too...But, I don't think I am a fan of the plan to find the next Iron Chef. I mean, to me, the Iron Chef should be a well known chef that everyone's heard of who battles no name really good chefs. I think it wouldn't be as interesting to have Joe Schmoe as an Iron Chef... |
I love that show! A chef from here in Chicago was on it (I don't remember his name) and he wrote an article...a behind the scenes sort of thing. Apparently, it is extremely trying! The day is very long, its not just the one hour we see. And as for the secret ingredience (I always wondered about this) ahead of time, the chefs are given a list of 5 possible secret ingrediences and they have to submit "shopping" list of what they would need for each. Its not really a heads up, but its a way for them to have what they need. And they don't know which of the 5 it is until showtime. Very cool show!!!! |
