Tear stains

Gabriel has terrible tear stains :( I've tried Pretty Eyes, Diamond Eyes and Snowy Coat, nothing has helped  . He eats Nutro Ultra so I don't think it's the food. I was talking to a groomer who has a white standard poodle with the same problem, she suggested adding apple cider vinegar to the water and using a small amount of zinc oxide on the stains. Good idea or bad? Any other ideas?

Maybe he'll just grow out of it. Isn't supposed to take a few weeks before Diamond Eye starts working anyway? Is that the stuff that goes in the food?
Hi,
As someone who has bred and shown Himalayan cats forever, this is my suggestion. Clean the stain area with whatever brand you like. I have found over the years none of them work very well. I use normal saline (way cheaper). After you have cleaned the area throughly, take some corn starch and rub it into the stained area. Let it sit on the stain for about 30 minutes and q-tip or soft toothbrush it out. Do this every day and you will eventually (two to three weeks) remove the stain. Once removed you can get away with doing this evey two or three days. It take commitment, but it does work. I got this hint from an old time Persian breeder and it does work!

As someone who has a maltese and this topic "IS" the most popular...

people like Angels' Eyes. Drop a little in their food. Tearstains gone COMPLETELY. In fact they never came back from my dog after long-term use, and she had them bad. Seems this works more than any other product on the board. Others use the active ingred. only in that product (not sure, but tasker's mom may be one of them).

The other products you named didn't seem to work for most people.

Eye Envy also worked for me, but I'd forget to put it on and then they'd come back. Angels' Eyes is a lot easier since it goes in the food.
I did get the Angel Eyes but my vet strongly urged me not to use it since it has low doses of antibiotics so I returned it. I did hear great things about it though. I'll try the other suggestions, thanks.

I second the corn starch suggestion. I purchased a video on how to groom an OES, the groomer also suggested the corn starch method for stains.
