When I said before that he'd thrown up twice in the past week, the second time was tonight, on a walk after dinner. That was what prompted the initial post--but now he's just thrown up again (what I can only assume is breakfast, looking at it). I'm hoping to take him to the vet tomorrow--could it be worms, and is it safe to wait until tomorrow? |
It's terrible when a puppy is sick and very worrying.
It may be the food, to change brands of food can cause a reaction. I changed georges brand one time and I thought i had killed him It could be the adult food? In the Uk you are reccommended to leave pups on puppy food until they are least 1 year old (some even say 18 months) as they need the additional nutrients in the puppy food while they are growing. I hope you get to see the vet today and it everything turns out ok. |
How long did you take to transition over to the other food? What is the brand you are trying to introduce ?
How long after he ate that you walked him? How much does he drink, does he have free access to water and let him drink before eating and after? Is he a guzzler of water and quick eater too? Link for bloat and preventative practises. He is too young for this, but the eating, drinking and excersise habits are something we should all learn about to help prevent this as they get older. http://www.globalspan.net/bloat.htm Here is also a post on heartguard for you to read, someone else was having a problem with vomitting etc using this product. How long ago did you give him the heartguard? http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=16187 No dosing him on that unless he is well and truly due for it, read the topic as well and if you suspect anything there, might pay you to switch brands. Is he due for a normal all wormer? If at all not well in himself, lethargic, or running a temperature and the runny poops don't settle real soon & the vomitting continues, then best to see a vet as soon as you can. Make sure too you keep his fluids up so he doesn't dehrydrate. Youngster can go down hill fast. I think if he is acting quite normal in himself at the moment, then I think you will be safe to see a vet tomorrow, just keep a good close eye on him till you can get there and if any changes straight off to the vet. |
