I quit Weight Watchers

I just quit Weight Watchers. I don't care if I've paid in advance for the sessions. For the last 3 weeks, I've eaten within my points, done moderate activity, and have gained over 2 pounds. Obviously the plan is not working for me. I'm totally discouraged and might as well eat what I want since it doesn't make a difference.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine b/c of your great success already!

I think there comes a point where moderately eating what you have been to lose weight just doesn't work anymore b/c you've reached the point where your body just needs MORE calories burned to continue down a weightloss path. So you'd have to take in less or take up another activity/ways to burn calories.
Paula-how much longer have you pre-paid for?Can you stick it out until then? 3 weeks, although it seems like a long time, in the weight-loss world really isn't very long. Maybe your moderate activity needs to be increased or maybe you need to eat a few less points or something...Don't give up!
You have been in weight watchers for a considerable amount of time right? WHY QUIT???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You know that weight loss involves plateaus that can go on for weeks. The closer you get to goal, the harder it is to lose weight. You need to talk to your leader about it, there are often things you can do to "jump start" your progress.
I've been doing this for longer than 3 weeks. I wouldn't mind a plateau where I maintain, but I'm not going to write down every morsel I eat and engage in exercise if I see only a gain. I'm about 30 pounds away from goal--it's not like I have 2 pounds to lose.

Ginny, tell your smoking cessation class that it's easier to quit smoking than lose weight.
PAULA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quitting is not going to help. It is VERY easy to get discouraged. For some reason I thought you had been doing it longer but them I remembered it was Deb. WW is a support group, you need to turn to them for support (and us too). If you are only in week 3 there are LOTS of reasons you may not be losing, TALK TO YOU LEADER. You may not have chosen the "right" plan.

I know WW's offers serval different plans, you may need to change what you are doing. One plan offers unlimited quantities of specific foods, another counts points, I think there is also a "Quick Start".

When I did weight watchers I found that the weeks I didn't lose weight were ususally the weeks I was careless about measuring and weighing or not completely honest about what I was eating. OR i didn't drink enough water. If weight loss were easy EVERYONE would be thin. It's not easy and you are going to face alot of challenges in the weeks ahead. BUT YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's what I was thinking too.

However, I do think if you've been doing it for 3+ weeks and sticking strictly to it and only gained weight... it may be time to look for something else. IMO, even when you plateau, you still should have maintained or loss a lb in 2-3 weeks.
Oh Paula - Don't Quit!!! I know it is frustrating and maddening to do everything right and still gain weight. Believe me, I have been there! But, quitting will not help the situation.

Take a break. Seriously. Take a week off. Eat what you like but don't go crazy. Then, take some deep breaths and re-commit yourself.

It is not uncommon for plateaus to last 4-6 weeks. And when you plateau, you don't necessarily maintain at the exact weight you stopped losing, you may re-gain a couple of pounds. But, it's TEMPORARY if you keep on the plan.

You've come too far to give up now! Only 30 lbs to go!! :cheer:
Are you crazy Paula????????? Dont you DARE give up!!!! Take a deep breath, say ''screw it'' and go back!!

you have come sooo far.....ups and downs are a part of life....kick the dirt with your boot and move on.....we still ''gots a long ways to go'' chickie!!
I have been to slimming world in the past and lost my stone and a half. Put some back on so re joined and I have lost 4lbs in 3 weeks. Now that doesnt sound much but it does keep off like that. 3 weeks isnt long enough to give up on a health eating plan. Keep going!
I still say it doesn't make sense that one would gain weight after staying on the same "diet" for 3 PLUS weeks. I would only stick with it if you added something physical. Having only added weight after a month is too much.
There is a misunderstanding. Paula's been on WW for several months, it's just the past three weeks that she hasn't been losing weight.
I wouldn't really consider 2 pounds as really gaining anything. I think of that as more along the plateau range. And sometimes plateaus can last for several weeks. Often it DOES take something like adding some more exercise (or different exercise) or eating less, or even just drinking more water. You can gain 2 pounds just from water retention...
Paula,
Please stick it out! I have done Weight Watchers three different times, and believe me I yo yo even when I am following points. I can tell you when I do give up I always gain a lot more than when I am going. There is something to be said for being accountable with the weigh ins!
Maybe we should start something here for those of us who struggle.......

Paula- I know just how you feel--- but I have to say ditto to all of those that say Stick with it!!! Last year I lost 67 pounds- and I noticed a pattern- I would stick to my diet- and suddenly gain 2-4 pounds. Then- in a few days I would loose 6 or 7 pounds. My doctor said that bodies adjust and "hang on" to fat before letting it go. Give it another week, and I bet you loose the 2 you have gained- PLUS!!! Congrats for your commitment to your health :D
Last person to quit WW:

We have faith in you!!!!!
I know that had Bob gotten really discouraged on Weight Watchers but they did some switching around for his plan and worked with him on when he was eating and that seemed to get him jumpstarted again. Eating a lot of the points in the evening doesn't allow your body to burn them appropriately. If it isn't right, at least it sounded good!!!!

No matter what, don't get too discouraged. You'll find something to work for you. And you have us as your little cheerleaders!!!
Paula, dear, dear Paula...please, don't give up.

We all get stuck. Sometimes we think we are being compliant, but if we take out our tools (measuring cup, spoons, etc) we find out we are just bit off. I know, because, that's what happened when I got stuck for a month.

What I "eyeballed" as a cup, was 1 1/4 cups. What I thought was 4 oz, was closer to 6. What I didn't track...the 4 extra crackers (with cheese), the extra scotch (yep, scotch - 2 points), whatever, added up to a lot of extra points. I wasn't really being true.

So, I took a week and MEASURED AND TRACKED EVERYTHING THAT PASSED MY LIPS! EVERYTHING!

The next weigh in, I had lost 3 pounds. I wasn't being true to myself, even though, I swore I was.

Paula, you've come so far. Take these three weeks (heck, they're paid for) and really, really be accountable. If you hate tracking, please give the core plan a try. And remember, only eat until you are ALMOST full. It takes awhile for your brain to register fullness.

And Paula...before you totally throw in the towel, CALL ME!!!! Cuz, I know you can do this.
Deborah, the b!tch of it is that for the last 3 weeks, I did measure and weigh everything.

The b!tch of it is also that weight loss is more complex than "eat less and you'll lose weight."
CALL ME TONIGHT!!!!!

Sometimes eating LESS becomes self defeating. I remember from my weight watchers days that they would often encourage you to increase your points to speed weight loss.

If you aren't eating enough your metabolism slows down to conserve calories and you end up not losing weight when eating less.
Yep...you need your points to make your body work. Every now and then you need a few extra.

And...you need to mixup your food sometimes, too!
So I guess the Reese's pumpkin and cheese popcorn I ate last night was o.k., since I increased my calorie consumption?????
^^^

Where the heck did you get that?
 do you want me to start on FAT GRAMS???????????????
I think if you switch to core, the Reese's pumpkin is okay
Pumpkins are veggies, right? 8O It doesn't matter if it's chocolate and peanut butter.
Kidding aside, you can do it.
I went off the ww wagon and now I am going to Miami next week 20lbs heavier than what I wanted to be
Dieting stinks, but I think being chubby and then seeing the photographic evidence of it is even worse,
