A bath every two weeks? |
Chewie will be getting a quick partial bath later today before class. His face and underbelly (ie:pee) need some cleaning up!
So, at about 4pm CT Chewie will be hitting the tub. |
Hey you know if you bathe a sheepdog too often they lose all their hair! |
lolol, I don't think he could lose all of his hair if I bathed him every day, but I do use sensitive skin puppy shampoo on him so that I can bath him more often, he smells very clean that way when I smush my face in his fur:) |
Obe needs a bath bad. He usually gets one a month and it is going on 6 weeks. I am going to wait as we are going to Georgia to visit my parents and i plan on taking him to the groomer the Saturday before we leave (end of the month). He likes to be inside so he doesn't get to dirty. |
It had been many, many months since my dog had had their last baths.
They did get a bath last week. They don't normally smell. The only reason I bath them is to whiten their whites because thet get dingy after a while. Other than that they really don't need it. Except for a partial baths here and there. I was also told that bathing too much with remove essential oils from the skin. So just be careful and keep on eye on his coat and skin. |

My Grandmother bathed her rough collie too many times and she went bald! (The dog not my granny) |
We bath both Violet OES and China Aussie Shepherd weekly, still full of hair. Now my husband is going bald...maybe that is why. |

LMAO!!!! |
Oscar is also on the bi-weekly bath schedule. Every two weeks he goes to the groomers for a full bath, and twice a week I throw him in the tub for a scrubbing of the "pertinent" parts. We are still working on Oscar's health issues (allergies, skin problems, yeast, digestive issues, etc.) with a holistic vet, but I find that the bi-weekly bath helps keep his skin issues from getting out of control. He's been on this bathing schedule since he was a pup, and so far, no dry skin or hair loss.
I am hopeful that once we find the right food/supplement combo, that he will be able to go longer between bathing, like a normal dog! By this time, I think I've put my groomer's kids through college! Laurie and Oscar, a squeaky clean sheepie |
Molly is not keen on baths and consequently only gets one when when she is either really dirty or going somewhere special. Despite putting a rubber mat in the bath she is still just scared she slips I think,
She is well trained LOL, avoids puddles and has no interest in swimming, usually if she gets dirty its because she hasn't noticed what she was running into!! As her coat grows at a horrendous rate I often just cut off the dirty bits |
I have read a number of times that sheepies should not be bathed more than once a month, but my sheepie smells like a cow after 8-9 days. I have found that using spray on shampoo helps lengthen the time between baths, so now we go about 2.5 weeks. Perhaps I should use the spray on shampoo more and full baths less. |
