Dog Park and Bathing

After I dropped Hayley off at school in the morning I decided it was perfect weather for the dog park. 8)

I had planned on just bringing the Sheepies, but as I was trying to get out the door Lacey slipped out. So I brought her for the first time to the Big Dog area with the Sheepies. She was hysterical. As soon as Rags and Peps took off to herd, Lacey was right behind them doing exactly the same thing. But when all the dogs stopped to sniff or whatever she looked a bit confused and looked to Rags and Pepsi for guidance. They were interacting with other dogs..sniffing, licking..etc. Not Lacey though. She just stood there looking around and having no idea why they just did what they did. Whenever a dog came up to her she immediately dropped onto her back. She is VERY submissive! But as soon as they started to sniff her she would growl and hop up and got into this funny stance and barked. Then would take off running. She chased every dog that was chasing a ball but never went for the ball.... probably would have been too big for her anyway. She really enjoyed herself today. It was very obvious how much she loves her brother and sister today and she had to follow them everywhere.

When we got home it was time for a bath. They needed one anyway...it's been a few months since a bath and at least a month since they had spent any time in the pool.

Both Rags and Pepsi do the exact same thing in the tub.
They hang their head over the side while I am washing.... ensuring that a whole lot of water hits the floor instead of the inside of the tub. :(
No matter how many times I tried to straighten their head to keep their heads over the tub they would immediately stick them back out over the side again. They act like they can't breathe if they don't hang their heads out.
Needless to say their was quite the puddle when I was done.
But they smell so nice and look so good.

I swear if Lacey was as big as the Sheepies she would probably do the same thing. Instead she just continously attempts to jump out.

After all that I somehow managed to met up with Ryan's afterschool program at the park so Hayley could play with Ryan.

:phew: I AM BEAT!!! I hope his means I'll sleep well.

Oh my Elissa, no wonder you are so tired all the time. You tired me out just reading about it. I am sorry to hear you are still having problems sleeping. I bet your crew smells so wonderful now. I love the story about Lacy, what a sweety just trying to fit in. I does sound like she had a good time. I will hand it to you, taking three dogs with you at one time, alone. Remind me to tell you about my "walking the girls story"yesterday, comical looking back, but not at the time, next time we speak.jeez.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your wonderful story with us....now go take a nap.
I don't know how you do it.................

When my 3 kids were growing up, ONE dog was sometimes too much, I couldn't imagine having 3==along with a couple of growing kids!!!! You sound like SUPERMOM!!!!!!

(I got tired just reading everything you did!)
That sounds like a lot of work, but also so much fun!

I was a bit jealous - it stormed here yesterday and all we had was mud. Otherwise, I had the whole day free before I worked last night and a trip to the dog park would have been perfect!
Wow Elissa! I could visualize everything as you told the story...and it made me tired! You have amazing stamina and loved hearing all about the furkids adventures!

I nominate you for Supermom!!!

Marianne
The two most exhausting parts of yesterday were getting the dogs into the dog park without them trying to rip my arms out of their sockets and the bathing.

Once they were in the park all was good. 8) I even took Rags by herself into the double doors. Left her there and then got Lacey and Pepsi who don't pull as hard. By the time we left they were exhausted and no pulling.

When we got home I left the leashes on the dogs so it would be easier to get them in the bath. Believe it or not... when led by the leash Rags and Pepsi both just jumped into the bathtub. 8) It was keeping their head over the tub that was the hard part.

Then later on at the park with the two legged kids the only problems I had was convincing Hayley it was time to leave. Ryan went back with his afterschool program on the bus, so I didn't have to fight with him. They have the coolest playground at this park. They have benches in the actual playground structure which is HUGE. This thing has over 6 slides ranging in little slides to the really big scary ones. So I climbed up the ramp for the little kids then sat on the bench while the kids when all around and up and down the slides. So it was pretty relaxing. I took a few pics with my cell phone. Not the best quality... and only Hayley. Ryan was too fast for my cell phone.
Hayley was on the biggest slide in the picture. That girl has no fear!

I will post some pics of my clean dogs once the batteries on my camera are charged.

Here is a pic of took of Lacey with my cell after her bath. She moves so quickly too so it is a bit blurry. But you can see her hair is finally growing back from her June shave down. Boy does her hair grow slow.

Great pics Elissa. Hayley looks adorable and so does Lacy. Lacy looks so clean and her hair is so cute. Thank you for sharing. I love the palm trees also. 8)
Well Helen pretty much said everything word for word what I was thinking!
The palm trees ARE amazing. :D
I just don't know how you do it...well, I sort of do :D
Elissa you are amazing. Lacy looks like a mini OES. I can't imagine raising 3 kids on your own...my husband helps sometimes. I just leave him in charge when I want to go to sleep and they all stay up into the wee hours. How can I make him understand they are not supposed to be up so late? Geez! 12 and 14 does not mean adult.

Love the pictures!!!
Oops! Two kids!
Thanks Everyone! :D

Wendy, I am not alone. I have had a wonderful hubby for 3 1/2 years who helps tremendously (been with him a little over 6 years). I was a single Mom for a few years after I divorced my son's Dad and boy is that tough, especially with an autistic child and a chronic pain disorder.
For me to do all this stuff in one day is a BIG deal and boy did I pay for it today. My pain levels are through the roof. But at least my dogs had a fun time yesterday and are sparkly clean instead of having dingy whites.
UGH!! I spoke too soon. Rags just walked in with muddy paws.

Valerie, I don't consider them 3 dogs, I consider them more like 2 1/2. Luckily, I have a big yard, a dog door and they get lots of exercise and most of all they listen to me.... unlike the kids. Technically Rags is hubby's dog. So I only have 1 1/2. As for the kids, Ryan and Hayley are almost 7 years apart, which makes things a lot easier.
Hey Elissa,

Can't wait to meet all the furbabies and the family. Looking forward to the sheepie gathering near you. Glad you aren't doing it alone...and sorry you are suffering for it today. Hope you don't pay for all the exercise for too long.

You are a supermom!!!
Thanks Wendy! Looking forward to meeting you too. :D
