If anyone is interested in having their dog tested for the Canine Good Citizenship award (AKC) or Therapy Dog International, BC DOg Training in Mundelein, IL will be offering the test on Sunday October 28, 2007. Please see www.bcdogtraining.com Go to the home page and click on events. Scroll down to the CGC TDI information. All breeds are welcome but there are a limited number of participants accepted. Sir Kodiak and I went last weekend and passed on our first attempt! If you go, good luck!! Lets see how many fuzzybutts can pass this year. |

Thanks, Kathi. For some reason, I don't think we'd pass any of these I had such great plans for Fozzie...I still can't even walk him on my own Maybe he'll excel in herding |
derby passed his cgc i am such a proud mommie.. |
Congratulations for Sir Kodiak and Derby! Do you know if mutts can do it too? Boni is too young for this and I have a lot to do with him before we can try. |
derby is a full blooded mutt but thinks he is a pure oes |
Yes, any canine is welcome to give it a go.
Good luck if you sign up. Kathi |
A class for doggies is going to be offered in Jacksonville, FL during January to train to be a therapy dog. The class is free and I believe it is 6 weeks long. Let me know if you are interested and I can forward the contact information to you (of course if you are in the Jax area) |
LOL! Lumpi is a pure mutt too and I don't know what he thinks he is.
Thanks Kathi, I'm reading the CGC program right now. I have to think about it...I would love to do it and I think he is ready, especially when he is a little tired. That wouldn't count cheating would it, if I take him there pretty tired. ARTabone, we are in Chicago until February then Boston...but thanks for the info |
Pearl has had her CGC since she was about 2.(she needed it to get into a couple of the therapy programs.)
We did take a class before we attempted the acutal test and I'm glad we did!!! Most dogs and owners have a difficult time with a few of the exercises and without practicing I think it would be hard to pass the first time. |

I agree. We went to classes for CGC and it was harder for me to learn the process than for Sadie to learn the actions required, but we made it through. Neither of us would have had a clue if it had not been for classes. |
