Suggestions for training treats

My guy Nigel isn't too food orientated. We have Natural balance that we cut up for treats...and now I am trying cooked chicken liver. I had hot dogs suggested, but do you cook them first, or just cut them up. I know they are packed cooked anyway.

Looking for the ultimate (I'll do anything for) yummy.

Take an uncooked hotdog and slice it into penny sized pieces. Spread them out on a paper towel and microwave until they're almost cremated.

Seriously, once most of the moisture is out of them they make great training treats and are much cheaper than the pet store kind.

They don't make a mess in your pocket and stay fresh for a long time.

Good luck!
They will be kind of crunchy...right?

This sounds nice, I think I will try it with my boys too.

I use cheese, hot dogs (uncooked) but my jackpot is, which is MUCH MUCH better then pigeons or other dogs is baked chicken liver. :D

I put them on a tray and put a little rosemary on them then put it in the oven on 350 for half an hour - turn them over and bake them for a little bit more. Then I turn the oven down to 175 and leave it open a little - I use the potato peeler to keep the oven open a bit - and bake it for about an hour. By doing this I'm making it very dry. Then I put it in a ziplock bag and in the fridge and when I want to use them I just cut them into little pee sized treats.

These worked the best for me for the biggest distractions!
I did bake some chicken liver today...not as dry as you do. I am also going to make some hot dog treats.

Yep, they should be crunchy.
I use turkey franks. They scare me a little less than what's possibly inside a hot dog. I know the dogs don't care, it's me. ;)
OK. I used Hebrew National Hot dogs and made them crunchy. Takes a while...but he really liked those. I guess he likes crunchy better. Is my pup spoiled or what...kosher hot dogs...jeez!
