Jumping & Nipping

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted on here lately...it's been a busy summer!

Anyway, our sheepie (Milton) is now 7.5 months old and he's doing really well. He does, however, have a few issues that need to be sorted out.

At random times throughout the day (sometimes justified, sometimes out of nowhere) Milton becomes excited. He doesn't do this to me very much but he'll jump up on my wife and really give her a good nip. I've seen her walk away from him before and he'll run up behind her, jump up into the air and nip at the back of her shirt.

He also likes going for people's feet.

We try to grab his collar but he generally thinks you're playing so he'll immediatley run away.

Any tips for correcting this behaviour?

My puppy does this to me and my adult son but not to my husband. He jumps at me when I am sitting at the table and nips my clothes. I sprayed behaviour spray on my foot the other day as she was trying to chew that. I remove her and put her outside but she does it again next time. If we are standing we turn our back on her without speaking which sounds like you do but that doesn't work.

Perhaps someone will come up with an idea.
PLEASE don't grab his collar! We learned this very hard lesson early on.
For a few months, we left her leash on & when she needed discipline, we grabbed that instead.
He is a juvenile, which means he is like a 16-17 year old boy. You have to be extremely consistent, strict and firm with them at this time. If you say "No", you mean it. You are not asking him to do you a favor. They will really test your limits and I mean REALLY!

Has he been neutered?

It doesn't seem that he respects you guys at all, especially your wife. You don't need to grab his collar but instead you can put a leash on him to control him better. Make him sit and step on the leash so it is loose when he is sitting but he cannot jump up.

You can also have treats on you and as soon as he approaches throw the treats on the floor. So when he comes to you he will start looking for the treats on the floor instead of jumping.

Have you tried a spray bottle? See if he doesn't like to be sprayed in the face, then your wife can use that.

Please do make sure to praise him when he is sitting or laying down and every time he is being calm. If you don't let him know what you want him to do will do anything to get your attention in his own ways.

I hope what I'm saying makes sense, if not, let me know. :D
