Ahhh!!! That is so funny! I love the hippo cuddled up in her pink blanket at the end, with the little dog nearby. I want one too!
You know, a hippo will eat you! Apparently they can be really violent and territorial in the wild. Regardless, they're still so cute! (probably has something to do with the toy-makers creating adorable stuffed animals so we all want to cuddle with hippos and bears and elephants. ) "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" is one of my favorite Christmas songs! |
Hippos are so cute it's hard to believe they kill more humans in Africa than any other animal. That said, it is an incredible bond between the people and Jessica. I just hope she never turns on them.
Sweet coffee for a snack????? |
Remarkable, isn't it? Especially how well she interacts with the dogs and lets herself into the house. Interesting, too, that she is free to go, but chooses not to do so. |
Ha Ha, yeah I want one too!!!
I never seen a Hippo having such a great life!! Even a massage at the end of the day!! |
Hmmmmm Hippo dung.......
Hey, that was cool opening the door, and that ending was incredibly cute! Still ya gotta wonder about people who do this sort of thing. What do you imagine their actuarial life expectancy is? I wonder what percentage of people who live with/among bears, hippos, tigers, lions eventually wind up mauled? |

That's one of my favorites too! Fun fact: The song was written as a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City Zoo. It was sung by Gayla Peevy, age 11, and she never recorded another song. When the song went National, it was a hit. The money made off the song allowed the OKC Zoo to purchase Matilda. |
Quote: "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" is one of my favorite Christmas songs! I had found the vinyl record in a box of old 45's my parent's had down in the basement. It's one of my favorites too! Thanks so much for the history of the song. Quote: Poor doggy getting stepped on, OUCH! I ouched too... the pack came running to see who was hurt Quote: I just hope she never turns on them.
Always a concern when people domesticate a wild animal though... |

Very sweet. I love a story where there is such a great love for an animal. |
is she the hippo that lost her mommy in the tsunami? |
She is so cute! But I felt sorry for that poor bull terrier who was stepped on by her. |
