Getting puppy on Saturday!

After waiting all summer we're picking up our new boy this Saturday. I'm so excited I can't sleep! It's 1:30 am and I'm racking my brain trying to think of last minute things. I went to a dog show on Sunday and bought the largest crate they had as well as toys and some grooming stuff. We've been dogless for 3 years and haven't had a puppy for more than 10 years. Any last minute words of wisdom, advice, and/or comfort would be appreciated!

Congrats!
I agree with Ron, get sleep while you can, because you won't get a full nights sleep again for a while.
The best advice I can offer is to tell you to join the forum.

YAY,, another puppy!!! PUPPYPROOF :) EVERYTHING :) :) SERIOUSLY :) :) :) They get into everything, I have totes and garden fence all over covering cords, etc. Doesn't look great but makes it safer. Have fun and post pictures.
Congratulations!!!!
Any name picked yet????
I'm going to give you bad advice: Don't Sleep! I remember being so excited about getting Bingley and hearing everyone say, "Catch up on your sleep while you can!" They were right - but I ended up having a lot of time wasted as I layed eyes wide-open in bed at night trying to sleep! So don't sleep because you won't be able to anyway and later you'll be able to experience the special connection with your puppy that only comes from the truly sleep-deprived!
AND THAT'S THE TRUTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your boy doesn't keep you up for too many nights. My guy sleeps great now...it's just the 4-legged vacuum cleaner routine that drives me nuts. Get everything off the floors...and enjoy the little love bug!
Thanks for all the advice so far. Sorry, it looked like I wasn't a member- it was late and I thought I was logged in- SILLY ME! By the way the puppy's name is Bogart- Bogie for short.
newspapers, and kitchen roll, and spray cleaner and air freshener! Summer sleeps through the night now, we sort of put he out last thing and then quietly load the dish washer and tidy up by which timed she has fallen asleep. The first few nights we left the radio on and the light. But she doesnt need them now. You just have to be prepared to let them whine a bit, they soon get used to the idea that someone will come back.

Good luck look forward to photos!
Congratulations! Stay consistent and very calm! :D
congrats on the new pup. take all advice from above post and apply them. I do remember the first few days/nights. No sleep and loads of fun. would not trade those memories for anything.
