Besides adding Taggart to our brood of sheepies and caring for my mum after her stroke last year and broken hip this year and working full time, I have been busy working on some baby sweater designs. I was hoping a few of you interested in knitting might take a look and tell me what you think. I have a blog for my designing life so if you would take a look, you can leave me messages there or here. my blog address is The Fresh-Picked Knits Blog I'm going to the Southern California OES Rescue Parade this weekend and created a special sweater and hat for the silent auction. I sure hope it brings in a couple of bucks for a very good cause. I will take photos of the event and let you know how it all went. |

Adorable. Quality knitting. |
Really nice work as I use to do tons of knitting for my grandchildren. Now most are grand sons and great grandsons no girls. But I love your work. |
The hat & sweater set are beautiful! I so admire those of you who have the patience and talent for knitting. |
They are really lovely! My neighbor is having a baby girl in December. Anywhere we can purchase these? |
Wow, Leslie - they are just gorgeous!! I love the blue hat and sweater set. Wish I had the patience to knit but I can't sit still that long! |
Absolutely adorable! I know how much time and love it takes to make something so special |
Now that's a talent!
Do something in spun sheepie wool!!!?? |
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate all your comments. I have just added a couple of more photos of some baby hats. My goal is to not knit for people, but to write patterns that are easy and beautiful. Something for a new grandma to knit for a brand new addition.
So, please take a look at the new additions: http://freshpickedknits.blogspot.com/ Thanks again everyone! |
Just simply adorable!! If I were expecting a new addition in the family, I would definitely buy these outfits. |
I'll have to get my nieces and nephews busy makin' babies again! Just too cute! |
You need to add more pictures as they are just adorable! I see others have asked before, but will you consider selling? |
Wish I was in CA to bid on the gorgeous sweater for my new grandaughter!
Do you share patterns? I would LOVE to make the hats for her. I don't have a knitting machine. I hand knit. I have been knitting since I was a child. I would love to make these for my Katherine! thx! |
Aw Man!!!! Those are great!
Please tell me you sell them. Marielena is going to look cute on one of those hats and sweaters! |

Ditto! Those hats are adorable! I love the blue one with the pink flower. |
Hello all,
I'm back from the OES Parade at the Burbank Kennel Club! The baby sweater brought in 35 dollars for our breed! I feel so good doing something I love and helping sheepie rescue!. We had a lot of fun. My friend who has a sheepie girl out of Smokn (spelling?) Her name is Channing. She won her first point towards her championship. She is an amazing little sheepie girl. I have not posted photos yet on my blog, but will real soon of the some of the rescue sheepies too! By the way, thanks to everyone for the positive comments on my knitting designs. |
Hello All, Check out my Blog dated 10/12/2007
http://Freshpickedknits.blogspot.com I have posted some photos of the OES Rescue Parade and some of the lovely rescue boys and girls. The sweater and hat brought in $35.00 for the rescue. It was a wonderful event and I had a great time. The next years date has already been declared. September 28, 2008. I have been planning next years donation. I am thinking of knitting a sweater with a sheepie in it. I'm also thinking of making it in an adult size. So I will keep you in on the making and the designing. Let me know what you think as I go along on it. |
Nice job on the knitted outfit although I think it should have sold for more! Looks like it was a fun day. |
Congratulations , your sweater set looks lovely |

That was my immediate thought as well! Glad you had a good time though and felt rewarded. It's always nice when people like your goods |
I agree, $35 seems low for such a lovely job, but then you never know from day to day who will show up at the rescue table. I don't know what you call the area immediately behind the ending on the collar, that raised section that shapes the neck. Very nice. I'm not a knitter so can't even think about the instruction to get that raised edge.
New England rescue has their online auction going right now. A baby sweather, hat and matching adult sweater would bring in big bucks, but that's New England, LOL We westeners are ........ cheap. Jane is going to have to work harder (?!) to cultivate the big buck folks. s. |
I really enjoyed your blog and finding out what a good hearted and neat person you are. The knitted items are just beautiful as well as your flowering pots, least of all how cute are your sheepies! Thanks for sharing. |
Sheepie Boss, I will think about getting something for the next auction for the New England Rescue in the future.
For the "raised edge" or the ridge area by the neck is a referred to as a “full fashion” feature. What you see are the decreases to allow for the neck opening, but done in such a way as to add to the look of the garment, thanks for noticing After years of knitting and listening to someone much wiser than I (mom ), I have learned to make things with a better look than to just increase or decrease directly at the edge. Yes mom I was listening, yes mom, it does look better, and yes mom, you were right. Have to give credit where credit is due. My mom taught me to knit and probably all the sewing and fashion discussions led me to want to design. Thanks for the comments and the encouragement to everyone. I really do appreciate it. |
You have a wonderful talent for knitting, Leslie! So lovely! I am sure the rescue appreciates your efforts, too. |
