new here and i'm so glad i found this site. I have wanted to own an oes for years but my circumstances were never right. Now i've gotten everything to align to allow for a new dog. Now all i need is to find a breeder or rescue in my area. I live in the atlanta, georgia area and from reading if travel is necessary-i'm willing (within reason ). As to my circumstances i have a large house and yard (although it is not fenced in) it would be an indoor animal only venturing outside for play and potty time and walks. I am in school full time but i live with my mom so someone is always home. I do have three cats but i think if they are introduced properly there should be no problem. I also have an older shtzu but he is no bother and i think they would be kept separate anyway. any and all advice is very welcome! jay |

Hi and welcome! Well, I would suggest going to the oes website and looking for a breeder there. If you are considering a rescue, i would check out petfinder.com. They have many dogs there who need good homes. Goodluck in your search and keep us all posted! |
Hi Jay,
Somehow I missed this post. Welcome to the forum! How exciting that are all ready for an OES! Marley gave you great advice. The www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org can give you a breeder referral. They have a code of conduct that the breeders should abide by. We have a few members in the Georgia area, that might chime in to help you find a puppy or rescue also. Good luck, and please keep us posted on your search. Stormi and co. |
Hi! Erm, I accidentally posted a new topic on my reply, so I'll try to get this straightened out (repost, edit, or something...)
But anyways, if you're looking for a pupper, try petfinder, if you are interested in a rescue, also NEOSER has great rescue contacts, for pretty much every state (except minnesota for some reason ). Also,m definitely contact oes clubs in your area- if a breeder is well respected by their counterpatrs, chances are that they are a winner! Karen |
You should contact NEOESR - I know in the past there have been rescues available in the Minnesota area and Grannie Annie will be able to put you in touch with the contacts.
