The most important thing with the Gentle Leader is proper fit. Nelson's Gentle Leader came with a DVD that clearly showed how to make the proper adjustments and how to use it correctly. The DVD is an excellent resource for training to the Gentle Leader.
Nelson hated being "led around by the nose" so badly that he quickly learned to walk with a regular collar and leash. Other dogs accept it willingly. Just purchasing the Gentle Leader was all we needed to do to get him straightened out. Good luck! |
We LOVE our gentle leaders!! They made such a huge difference in walking Murphy when he was a pup. As a matter of a fact even when he was out of his puppy stage but got excited when we had guests over we would put his gentle leader on him and he would immediately calm down. Sometimes we just had to show it to him and he got the hint.
I would just say read the fitting instructions carefully. It seems a lot of people have problems with the fitting. It is supposed to be snug around the head and loose at the muzzle (just not loose enough where it can slip over the nose). |

Good luck! That was Bear, too. The threat of the Gentle Leader worked better than the actual Gentle Leader! |
