I've ran into a lot of dogs that are like that including both of mine at one point. The more traveling we did, the less of a problem it became. Now it's not an issue. Yuki refused to pee at the vet office ......too many smells!!!
Just keep taking your dog out on long walks instead of letting it pee in the backyard. A dog will go when it has too. I do worry about bladder problems too since my maltese will hold it for more than 16 hours if she wants to. <<shrugs>> |
The first time we went camping my gal did not go for 2 days ...
Then we went on vacation for 11 days....She went... You might want to teach him to go on cue...Give it a name, and when he goes, say the word and give him a small treat. Do this often in your back yard, where you know he will go for sure...When he goes when you ask him to, you can take it on the road! Good luck!! |
Give it a name, I use "twinkles" and they pee on cue anywhere we are.
Potty breaks are no problems for that quick stop when we are travelling, take them out of the car, say the magic word, then back in and on our way. |
I can open the door and tell Duch ... go pee... and she will go pee or poo in the yard but she does not go when we are out for a walk or on a car trip and last week I left her at the doggy care and she would not go for them either on a walk or in the groomers back yard ( the groomer took her home at night) but she did go in her house , Our report card was not good |
