The party was held in someone's home whom I never met before as she now lives in a different municipality than me. In fact, I hadn't met any of the people that were going. Her boyfriend had often heard my name mentioned, snuck her phonebook and invited me to the party. I had come across her diary some time ago, in a box I kept of momentoes. So that's what I brought as my gift. Her diary written from the time she was 15-17, as well as photos of her childhood. She had given it to me for SAFEKEEPING as a 17 year old when she discovered her mother had been reading it. LOL! Of course she was shocked to lay her eyes on the diary she hadn't seen in all those years. (We're ole ladies now!) Long forgotten she had even given it to me. More suprisingly I had kept my PROMISE and never read it. The lock had been broken by her mom but I didn't even peek into what she had written. I remember how she begged me not to read it and I didn't. The other people were amazed and said wow, that's friendship. You kept it for safekeeping all those years and never read it? Nope I honestly can say I didn't. Marianne |

Writer's embellishment:
Then Marianne said: "So, after all these years and without further ado, I think now is a good time!" and proceeded to read it aloud at the party while her friend slowly died of embarrassment. |
That's very sweet of you! What a great friend
She should read it to you now, I bet it would be hilarious! I've come across a few of my old diaries and the stuff in there is sooo dumb. One thing I remember reading about was how I was crazy about this boy in my 6th grade class. He sat next to me in science because our last names were similar. Anyway, apparently one day his elbow was touching mine at our desks and I was in heaven! I wrote something like, "I didn't want to move it and just sat there enjoying his arm...." What a weirdo!! |
Very impressive, Marianne! |
