When he nips - make a loud noise like you are hurt (OUCH!). Make a big deal of it - even if it doesn't hurt. You should also have something available that he can chew on and give him that instead.
Is dog training/obedience classes (puppy kindergarten) as common in England as it is in the States? (Don't you live in England?) Just wondering because this is a great age to start them! Good Luck Kristen |
i just stopped walking, said, NO BITE (not yelling, just a firm, mean tone) and scruffed him and held his muzzle until he stopped fighting (sometimes takes quite a while!!). He doesn't do it anymore. Works well for play biting too!! And I spray my shoes daily with Fooey because he lays in wait until I take them off... |
Am I out of it or what...tell me what's Fooey? Oh Phooey, I guess I need to get out more!! |
fooey is the next higher step from bitter apple. roofus thought bitter apple was a tasty seasoning. |
thanks for advive bob s going to is first puppy class tomorrow i will let you know how i get on |
divert him/her.
keep a chew toy or tennis ball in your pocket, when he/she bites ya, either stuff the toy in the face, diverting attention to chewing somethin else, or toss the ball getting him/her to expend all that energy by running for abit. |
