My name's Di and no, I don't have a sheepie! We, as a family, have been involved in fostering rescue dogs for about 6 yrs and have had a couple of OES/OES xs pics below! This is Turner in the Dog Pound and before having his coat clipped once he arrived in rescue and finally the reason why we foster. To get them like this and off to their fab new home and this is Paddy who came in as a Bearded collie from a domestic violence situation. I am over the moon today because I contacted a local rescue for elderly dogs who have had an OES in for 2 yrs. He is blind and going deaf and is kennelled alone as he snaps at other dogs (mainly coz he can't see them). They have agreed that we can go and work with him at weekends, building the bond with him and hopefully beginning to introduce him to our dogs in the hope that a) hubby will stop swapping between I don't want another dog and if we have another I want it around for a few years! (had a few oldies pass away last year) and he can eventually come home with us. b) we don't take him on but we get him to a stage where he can be kennelled with another dog for company! Whatever happens we get him out of the kennels for at least an extra couple of hours and he gets extra quality time that the guys at the kennels cannot offer because of other duties/other dogs to deal with. Wish us luck! Di x |

Welcome Di! It's a great thing you're doing for that sweet old OES in the shelter. Bless you!! |
Pic approved and original message has been edited to include them!
Thanks for fostering!!! |
What a wonderful way to get to know some great dogs and help those truly in need. Having fostered and rescued, I know how satisfying it is to bring a sad case home and turn them into true angels.......problem is then I'd want to keep them. You have far more control than I
I hope you can help the blind and deaf OES. What a strange world he must live in. May your comforting touch bring him so joy........... s. |
