My dog and I were in the woods. About 2 hours after returning my dog seemed to be scratching alot. I alwaya check him for ticks upon return and didn't see anything. Then I was sitting on the couch and it felt like something was crawling on my skin but I didn't see anything - thought maybe it was the heebeejeebies after going through quite a few spider webs today. But it kept feeling that way. So I looked really close and saw a tiny brown thing (smaller that a freckle - like al period sized thing) moving on my arm. I freaked out and jumped in the shower. When I got done I could see about 10 in the white tub. I washed my dog too but his hair is so thick that they seemed to cling to him (I applied frontline as well). I vaccumed the room we had been in but then I felt something on the back of my leg. I took a look and there was another one but stuck into my skin. I pulled it out with a tweezer like I would do to ticks on my dog in the past. I washed my clothes, the towel, the bedding (my dog had jumped up there), and vaccumed the couch. Again -What are these? ticks? mites? how do I get them off me? my couch? Any ideas? I'm calling the vet in the a.m. to get my dog an appointment this week. |

They sure sound like ticks to me.
Check out oes.org's tick identification page Take a small vial (like a skinny one for pills) and fill it 2/3 of the way with regular rubbing alcohol and drop the ticks into that so you can show them to the vet if you like. Good luck and be sure to keep us posted! |
