Maizie!

I took maizie to the vets on tues, for her boosters. (But on the saturday before i noticed a lump on her gum (over her large tooth) I thought she had been playing with Hatt's. and maybe banged her gum. Anyway it went down a little.) So I ask the vet to have a look! Hes said its not normally a thing sheepies get so hes having her in on Tuesday to take it away hes not sure it may/or maynot be something Nasty and is sending it away for biopsy. :(

I hope Maizie's lump turns out to be just a nothing bump. Good thing you noticed it.
Poor Maizie, I hope it's gone by Tuesday.
Hugs to Maizie for FAST healing!
Aww poor Maizie! I'm sure she will be OK, keep us updated and give her lots of hugs from us :ghug:
Ooh, I hope it's no big deal. Keep us posted.
Poor Maizie! I hope by Tuesday it has gone away and everything is back to normal. Hugs sweet Maizie May :ghug: Let us know what happens.
Oh dear :( Poor Maizie....hopefully its just a harmless bump! Crossing fingers and paws for a clean biopsy! :plead:
Kim it sounds like an "EPULIS" which is a benign oral growth over the tooth.

Can happen around middle age, and they just remove the growth over the tooth and yes send it off for testing. Always benign with an epulis, so hopefully that is all it is.

My previous sheepie girl had one removed growing over her tooth.

Keep us posted. :ghug:
Poor baby. Hope she is not in pain. Hugs from our gang and prayers!!
Poor Maizie! :(

Got my fingers crossed for this or something easily treated.

Please let us know how she does on Tuesday.
Hugs to you Maizie... we'll be thinking of you girl!
Poor Maizie! Give her a snuggle from me please and try not to worry too much. ( I know.....easy to say but not so easy to do!) Please keep us updated on her progress. Hugs to you and Steve - and Hattie of course!
I hope everything is okay.

George sends her a big hug!

:ghug:

Keep us posted.
Poor Maizie. I hope it turns out to be nothing and she can recover quickly.

Winston had one also, when he was about 5 or 6. It was a quick procedure and easy recovery. Here's hoping the same for Maizie and you!
:( Give Maizie a hug from us. Please keep us posted.
I hope she is OK!

Tucker has had these since he was 2. Over his teeth in
the back, both sides, top and bottom. The vet really
wasn't worried (either one) and wasn't in a hurry to
remove them. They have very slowly grown over the
years, and have recently begun to get in the way of his
chewing. He doesn't seem to mind them at all, and they
don't hurt him. I can touch them (even roughly) and he
couldn't care less. He is going in to have them removed
when he has his teeth done in a couple months. I was a
little put off when neither of the vets seemed concerned,
but as long as they weren't in the way or bothering him
they said it would be better to wait till he was in for
another procedure like a teeth cleaning.

I sure hope Maize's is like Tuckers and isn't anything to
worry about. They are sending his samples out for testing
too, but I think that might be pretty standard.

Wishing you luck, and sending Maize happy healthy vibes!

Shellie
Poor Maizie...Give her a sheepie hug from Pearl and Heart...Hope everything turns out OK...keep up posted....
Shellie I am really surprised the vet has not removed them earlier, even though they are not worrying him. They do usually as the growth forms at the gum line and as it grows it can affect the root of the tooth, can loosen the tooth over time. So when smaller and removed less chance of the tooth/teeth loosening up and falling out after the growths have been removed.

And yes any abnormal growth, lump, bump removed is always best to have it sent off for evaluation. Better safe then sorry & most vets it is the norm there after removing any growth. :D
Actually we changed vets about 2 yrs ago and even the
old vet didn't want to bother with them. :? That was one
of the deciding factors in changing vets. It was quite a
surprize to me when the new vet wasn't the least
concerned either. 8O I'm running out of vets to try!
(I insisted at the last visit a couple weeks ago and they
agreed to do it just before Thanksgiving)

Shellie
Shellie here is a link to read, I am glad you insisted on having them removed. Shame, shame, shame on the first vet, it would of been a less invasive procedure for tucker back then. :( They have to be removed as even though they are very slow growing they get to the stage evetually when the mass gets larger and larger & can protrude from the mouth or even affect the air flow and eating.

If any doubt with this second vet then seek someone who knows more about them and the removal of them when they are larger.
That's interesting. Very different from what the
vet lead me to believe. He told me it's no different
than slicing off a skin tag on a person. That article
says they remove a broad margin around the growth.
Well I guess we'll see when he goes in and does it.
I will be very angry if this is worse than they told me.

Shellie
I just rang the vets Maizie's Ok from her little Op. Got too see the vet at 4pm and pick her up.. Little Hatties missing her, she keeps looking for her Awww bless... I told her she will be home soon... :)

I am anxious to hear how it went.
How long till you find out about the sample
they send out?

Shellie
Hope the vet report is good news. :)
Lots of Hugs to one and all. It is always a worry when our puppies get sick. I think it is almost worse than when kids get sick. At least the kid can tell you where and how much it hurts.

Good luck, keep us posted.
Yay!
Did they say how long it will take for the results of the biopsy? I sure hope everything turns out fine for sweet Maize.
Hugs maizie, tell mum as soon as she hears to let us all know. :ghug:

Hattie I am so glad mazie girl is home again for you too.

Special hugs too for mum. :D
Awwww....so sweet that Hattie missed her sis! :hearts:

So glad to hear the surgery went well. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for a good result from the biopsy. :ghug:
Thank you all for yr hugs..

We got Maizie home last night she was bit sleepy. The vet said he had quaterized the lump (which was as small as a pea) And sent it off for a biopsy, should take around 5 to ten days.. Finger crossed that it is what Lisa had mentioned in her post Many thanks Lisa for that information on it.

I have never known sheepie getting those. The vet said they are prone to boxers.

Maizie had a good night sleep and she is on painkillers, and doing ok. A little quite but still the same old maizie ha ha!!! Hattie has been really good too with her I think she knows maizie is feeling a bit off.. Bless her.... So shes just lying by her giving her cuddles and kisses lol lol :)

We are due to go back to the vets next tuesday so if i here anything i will let you all know...
Glad Maizie is back home!
So glad to know she's home and feeling a little better. Keeping my fingers crossed for good biopsy results.
