Belle is coming home Sunday!

Yay!

I'm actually meeting Foster Dad Mike halfway between Detroit & Memphis on Saturday and then it's back home on Sunday. It's a 6-hour trip each way, so the overnight stay will give us a chance to get to know each other before the long car ride. I can also annoy Mike with endless questions about my new girl, Belle.

I'm already calling her Belle of the Ball in my mind.

Here's a picture of her taken today

Isn't she wonderful???

Aaawww! She is sooo cute! How old is she again??? She looks adorable! Congratulations once more!!! Wow, as Willow sais "5 more sleeps!" LOL Goodluck on your trip! What a lucky girl she is.
She's 5-7 years old and I think she's a perfect fit for this household. I'm so excited; I don't know who's luckier, Belle or Jil and Kayli and Otis and Calvin.

Be prepared for pictures . . .

Jil
Haaa! I love pictures! Keep us posted! LOL Yeah, I know how you feel about the lucky part! Mopsey has brought so much joy to our lives, and I can't immagine life without her! This is such a fantastic breed, they are really furry people! They are so smart and funny!
I just emptied the memory card and recharged the battery. I am infamous for taking pictures. Oooh - I wonder if my camera does black & white??

I feel so lucky; I've got Kayli Marie, the greatest floof-doggy-dog ever and now there will be Belle to keep her company and make our lives even more enriched.

Enough. I'm getting sappy now. :P
Congrats! Belle will be furever grateful that you opened your heart and home to her! May she live a long happy healthy life with you and your family!

Kristen
Congratulations! I am so happy for you and Belle. I am glad you said pictures, I can't wait! The first one is adorable. Be safe on your trip. Stormi and co.
Hi Jil,

She looks great! Keep us posted on how the return trip goes. I remember picking Mollie up at the airport last year. It was soooo exciting!

Send lots of pictures of beautiful Belle.

I am so excited, I can't stand it. It's like being a kid at Christmas! I've already started a pile of stuff to take on the trip.

Belle will be sporting a smashing red rolled leather collar, with a purple name tag. She will be dining at a luxurious supper dish festooned with dogs and drinking from the biggest darned bowl I could find! I need to find a mat to put under it; Kayli already leaves puddles and from what I read, Belle will out-puddle her.

Beautiful Belle . . . I like that! I'm also referring to her as Belle-issima. All my pets have many names, I'm surprise they know who I'm talking about.

Thanks all for the crossed fingers, toes and paws. I can feel the vibes and it's great.

I could probably tell you all the number of hours left till I finally meet her, but that's being a little ridiculous, now, isn't it.

Jil

ps - it's 89 :D

Dont forget to post pics of your new baby!!! :D
I received this message from Belle's foster dad yesterday. If you don't remember from her Petfinder "ad", she has lived the last couple years outside in a small pen with another OES and was generally ignored with intermittent feedings and no exercise plus she has arthritis in her back hips:

"Mira has Belle all packed and ready to go. And Belle's been extra
energetic since I told her she had a furever home. Last night she actually
ran from one side of the yard to the other just because she wanted to."

Belle is coming home.

Jil

ps - I leave first thing in the morning

pps - 16.5 hours :-)
Great news! Have a great time. Give Belle a big hug for me.
Stormi and co.
I am exhausted! What an emotional weekend.

Belle's in the living room on her blanket and she is the sweetest thing. She's not venturing far in the house and her favorite place is the van. Understandable, since she had it to herself for the trip home.

Pictures don't do her justice, but here's one from an hour ago. It's a bit fuzzy 'cause it was taken in the almost-dark

Image

Actually, it's quite clear, just HUGE. Sorry about that. I'm too tired to try to fix it and I want to get back to Beautiful Belle.
[Note: I reduced it for you. -Ron]

Oh, can anyone give me advice on natural/holistic food? She's on Science Diet HD and it's still got a lot of junk in it. I'm wondering if there's anything else out there I can talk to my vet about.

Happily,
Jil
Wow~ She is adorable! You must fill us in on how the trip went! I am so glad that you both are home safely! Enjoy!!!! :P
Congrats to you both! She is beautiful! Our van is one the favorites for my puppers too! Glad everyone is doing well!

Hi Jil,

Welcome home to you and Belle! I just keep thinking how exciting it is to bring a sheepie into your life. Mollie just came into the office to say hi to Belle. :D

Belle looks Beautiful! She has found her furever home. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

First off, thanks Ron!

Second, I wish to submit my apology to all sheepies with puppy cuts. I had always thought they looked "funny", not like a sheepie should look. I was so wrong. Belle looks beautiful just the way she is and right now I can't imagine her in full coat!

The worst part of the weekend was the waiting. I got to the hotel early and had forgotten about the 1-hour time difference to boot, so I was 90 minutes early. So I dragged a chair outside and impatiently read a book. For 2-1/2 hours. The longest 2-1/2 hours of my life. I just happened to look down the driveway and saw a woman with a leash, I couldn't see the dog because it was behind a car. For a second, I held my breath and then Belle stepped into view and I just started crying.

The 2nd worst part was when Belle came into the room with me that night and just stood by the door, waiting for Mike & Linda to come back.

The trip home was non-eventful. We stopped many times to stretch our legs and then met Kayli and my friend Michelle at the park. Kayli asserted herself and then life went on. Both of us 2-leggeds wondered if that was it, we had expected more, so we were sort of shocked. But, no, that's all it took. Kayli's fine with Belle in the house and yard. It's sort of uncanny. Belle is just starting to show some interest in Kayli and she's a bit confused by that, but no major upheavals yet.

Belle just came in and gave me a slurpy kiss. She's so cute about it. They almost make contact most of the time - they're air kisses. (Kayli's slurpy kisses are full-out slurpy kisses.)

Tomorrow will be vet & bath day. She let me brush her earlier, standing at attention with no problem.

This morning the three of us went for a walk. Together. We went at Belle's pace, which is slow due to the arthritis and had no problems.

Her paws are huge! (I hear you guys chuckling out there . . . .) There are already muddy footprints in the kitchen from the morning dew. Kayli will have to let her in on the wiping of the paws routine.

I just looked out the window and saw her rolling around in the grass like a happy puppy.

Life is good.

Jil

Hi Jil,

How are you and Belle doing? Haven't heard anything since last week. How is Belle adjusting to her new surroundings?

Karen and Mollie
Michigan
Yeah, sorry about that, Karen, it's been hectic at work and home, adjusting to a new routine.

Belle is doing great! I swear she purrs sometimes and does little happy dances. Her arthritis has flared up once, but the Metacam does wonders. Friends have commented that you'd never know that Belle just came into the house, it's as if she's been there all along - everyone gets along.

Kayli is trying to teach her to wait for paw wipes at the back door, but Belle will have nothing to do with that and I swear Kayli rolls her eyes at me. The funny thing is Kayli waits every time now, something she never did before.

Belle seems to be adjusting very nicely. Every day she seems a little less worried, but I could be imagining that.

How about that avatar picture? She was trying to get Kayli to play a little and then gave up with a little harrumph and flopped onto the flowers.

She either shuffles through the house like she's wearing slippers or clomps around like a pony.

I can't imagine being without her.

Jil
I love that big dog shuffle.....you can almost here a little bit of the Winnie the Pooh character "Eyeore" saying "Oooooookay...." when they shuffle around and then flop down head on front paws and just stare at you.

Congrats, Jill....I am so happy to see that the Rescue DOES work!
That picture of Belle is priceless! Too cute for words. Well, I'm glad everyone is adjusting to each other. I'll put a picture up of Mollie when her hair grows back. I took her to a new groomer and she got scalped!!!! She hasn't been this short since I rescued her a year and a half ago. Mollie was in full coat too!

I'll ask you for instructions on how to post her picture when were ready. Since I don't have a clue.

Keep us posted on Belle's adventures. It will be interesting to see how she adapts to the winter here in Michigan.

It will take Belle a year before she truly realizes this is her forever home. Rescues are pretty good the first month or so and then slowly let their true nature out of the box. It will be fun discovering the true Belle.....she may not be much different than she is now.

Glacier came in August and each week she shows more of herself: Yes, I can open the pantry and have fun with powdered sugar, I love to body block you, etc.

I hope the Metacam continues to work for her, that's the down side of older adoptions.......sometimes they are a bit lame or stiff. Who cares? We love them totally no matter what.
I love your avatar. Henry has exactly the same expression sometimes, it is too precious. Belle is a beauty and will grow to love you as much as you love her. I love happy rescue stories, I get happy tears every time I read one.

Cogratullations on adopting Belle, she is sooo cute!

You just reminded me of the time when we got Sofa and Frida... The lady said she was going to bring both of them to the house at 7:00, but the hours went by and no lady  My wife and me were soo dissapointed and we looked every time we heard a car pass by the driveway, then they finally arrived, any wife said I had never ran so fast and exited from the door to the street.

Sheepie antics will come to your home by truckloads once Belle adjusts to her new forever home, just wait and see!

Giver her a loong tummy rub from Lennon and Sofa.
Hi Jil,

Just wondering how Belle is adjusting to her new furever home. :D If she is anything like Mollie, she'll settle in fast. If you have time, keep us posted.
