Well...we found the puppy today. The poor girl was born on May 10th, and she's already been rehomed 3 times! The first time, the guy ran into legal problems (tax issues) so the breeder took her back. The second time, a husband and wife bought it and then decided having a puppy wasn't the best decision with a 10 month old baby so they took her back to the breeder. Then we came along. We're keeping her for good! She is just too precious. I don't see how anyone ever gave her up. A corgi was one of our "maybe" breeds, but everything about this puppy just feels right. I can't even say anything bad about the breeder. He gave us an AKC form with the lineage on it, and he gave her to us practically. We paid for the cost of the first two sets of shots. He even brought her to us to look at so he could see if we'd be a suitable environment. He said that he really just wanted her to have a good home, because she's at the age where she needs to bond to a family. The mom and dad are both tri-colored also. The mom is 21 pounds and the dad is 25 so I'm sure the new puppy will stay fairly small. Since they're herding dogs, I was expecting nipping at the ankles like our Jasper did at that age. She hasn't tried to do anything except lick us to death so far though. We had her a while before we brought her home too - had to go out and get her puppy food, a smaller kennel, smaller food/water dish, collar, leash, toys, etc.. All she did was lick me and the boys the entire time we were in the car (we stayed in the car with the ac running while hubby ran inside to get the things we needed). Here's a pic of her. I'll get more later. I gave her a bath, and she fell asleep while I was drying her. Awww... I'm so in love with her already. She's only seen Brees once, and she gave her a playful bark. Brees loves other dogs so I'm sure they'll be the best of friends by the end of the weekend. She's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Jake named her Popcorn, and we've been calling her Poppy for short. This pic was taken in the tub right after her bath. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y143/g ... C03518.jpg |

Corgi's are wonderful! Congrats! I've always wanted one myself, but it's only non-shedding for us. She looks soooooooo sweet. |
Congratulations on your new addition. We have fostered two corgies and found them highly intelligent and very loyal. Here is a link we found helpful: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pembrokecorgi.htm
Welcome hugs to Poppy! She is beautiful. |
That is a face to fall in love with. Very cute!!! |
Congratulations what a little darling, I love the corgi breed too, they make wonderful family additions. |
Congrats Gail and family! Tell Jake I think Popcorn is an awesome name!
She's adorable. |
Thanks everyone.
Here's some of her actually dry! lol Oh and excuse the crumbs. She went potty outside so she was rewarded with a treat when we got back in. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/j ... C03526.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/j ... C03525.jpg |
Awww, so cute! |
I can see how you could fall in love with that sweety. Congradulations! Adorable name "Popcorn/Poppy". Have lots of fun with your new addition. |
Gail, she is really cute! It is good she is finding a forever home poor baby! |
Gail, she is adorable.
Make sure you get her out, go to training classes and get her very dog socialized. Corgi's are great, but somewhat prone to being feisty with other dogs. I would call it a mild form of dog aggression. One of my best friends had this happen. Hers (Breezy)is great with their own dogs, but a terror around other dogs. These are experienced dog people and did everything right. Joey had hoped Breezy would be her next therapy dog, but had to scrap the plan because she never would get along with the other dogs in our group. She was so disappointed. But, she is a perfect, lovable little dog in every other regard. She LOVES people and is a happy, wiggly dog. |
Poppy is a real doll and love her colouring |

We're signing up for an obedience class that starts in a few weeks. I wish we had dog parks around here, but we don't. I'm thinking about trying to get the CGC with her if we can. |
That sounds perfect.
Poor thing, being in so many homes already. She's lucky to have found you guys. I bet the boys love her - just their size. |
Thanks for the pics. Poppy is precious. Just look at that face! So happy she has found a forever home. |
Cool, what a cutie! |

It seems like the older the boys are getting, the busier our lives are becoming. I thought it was supposed to be the opposite! lol |
