I think the first place to call would be the attorney general's office. I assume you had one of those sub prime loans with the adjustable rate and now its super high? or was it with that Mortgage company that just went over? Anyway, I think its the Attorney general's office taking the complaints...Then contact your local Bar Association. Tell them the problem and ask them for a referral. they ahve referral lists and sometimes the attorneys will do it pro bono ( for free)...call them... |
I would think you need a Real Estate Attorney.
Talk to some people and find one that does more than just "closings". |
It sounds like you could use some help in getting all this together. Are your children close? Could they help you get a good attorney and get everything in order? |
It is sounding more and more to me like you have gotten yourself into some kind of "flexible interest mortgagee" or "balloon payment". I have had a number of loans that were sold and the "terms" of the loan don't change just the servicing company.
Your escrow could not possible be 12000 a year, but a substantial increase in interest could really skyrocket your payments. There has been alot on the news recently about trick that lenders use to hook people into mortgages. Many lenders are not up front and honest about the terms of a mortgagee and I think you said you did not have an attorney orginally. So you may have gotten yourself into a mortgagee that you don't understand. If this is the case, the fault is with the original mortgagee company not the company the loan has been sold to. A good real estate attorney can help you. If you have dealt with a realty company in the pat I would call them and ask who they recommend in your area. You will need to take copies of all your mortgage papers, if you do not have them I would contact your original lender immediately to get copies of all papers. |
