My questions is..... he always has a you know what. My husband thinks it's funny and says that he is just happy all the time. My Aunt (she's had boy dogs) says it's a dominace issue. What do you guys think? He had one the whole time when we took the dogs for a ride (about 2 hours), I was worried and thought maybe we should stop by the vets office Is this normal somtimes he gets one when he goes number 2. When I talk to him and tell him how cute he is he gets one . Please someone tell me he's ok it's just so strange |

I have the same problem with George, maybe not THAT much, but he is always uh......yeah. I just keep going, pretend it's not hanging in the breeze. |
One of the few things is pressure from sitting. In some dogs just sitting there and well, there ya go.
Is this something you can see when he's just standing, or is it more when sitting? |
Yup, It's a dog thing. Wouldn't worry about it. Used to bother me, but I just ignore it now. My OES is 5.
Not for sure if it's because they are happy, but if so, better happy than a biter. |

Maybe he's watching too many Cialis commericials on TV? Funny how guys always relate that sort of thing to happy. |
Well, I guess a couple important questions need to be asked....... does he actually have an erection or is the inner part of the penis simply exposed (aka lipstick). For some dogs, in a relaxed state the red part of the penis will relax out and it is normal.
BUT, it can also get "stuck". Difficult as it may be you may need to check to make sure that there isn't hair wrapped around preventing retraction. If it is simply relaxed and "hanging out" it will most likely retract if the dog starts to walk or if you touch his underbelly. Maybe it's one of those four hour viagra things |
i think my boy is gay he is my first male and i am still wondering about this lol not that i llook ,, |

You know a lot about dog wieners. |
It's a "nurse thing" |

It's a new kind of cialis. |
Hi thank you guys so much for the replys..you all made my day. He gets them when he's sitting I don't ever remeber him having one when he's standing. It kinda does look like a long lipstick thing. |
Yea, sounds pretty normal. I can remember Tasker doing that when he was younger. Seems like as he gets older it has become less frequent................................. but then I think most men have THAT problem |

I'm switching to a lip crayon, I just can't do the lipstick thing anymore... |

Just hope that you never have to apply ointment for vaginitis or any other female irritation. I don't think I've ever felt closer to being a molester than when I had to do that. To me, the male parts are much easier to work with! |

I know exactly what you mean 1st Time OES Mommy.... Stella humps people ... and she's ALL girl, so don't think getting a girl will get you out of the woods. |

Oh, the things I want to say to this Jill! |

It was the most awful thing having to apply the oinment for Rags' vaginitis. I did feel like I was doing something VERY wrong and I was also totally grossed out. |
Wait until you need to clean and apply ointment to the inner part of the penile sheath... |
Ron wrote: Wait until you need to clean and apply ointment to the inner part of the penile sheath...
I do a lot of trimming and while there, I inspect things to make sure all is clean and healthy looking so I have been in contact. Granted, I've never had to rub ointment and I can see where you're going there. I think it depends on the dog's reaction, too. Poor Lucy was going insane because she was irritated so my touching was really making it seem like even more of a "bad touch." |
Uuuhhhhhhh, the things we must do for our dogs....and I will be looking at my lipstick funny now, too, at least its not bright red though And I must admit, I was sitting here giggling, since when are we required to be gynocologists and proctologists? |

Imagine you own a male horse....... ..........and leave it at that! |

Got sheep,
I thought the same thing (we have two mares) but cleaning a geldings sheath is an experience in its self!!!!! (never did a stallions ) back to the subject , Guinness must be a very happy fella because when he gets excited that we are home or that company comes he does a "humpy dance"!!!!! Glad he dosent get that excited when we do hospital and nursing home visits!!!! After writing this I need to find something to do because apparently I have too much spare time |
I remember being so thrilled when I recieved a photo of Panda as a young pup as I had only met him when he was three. Of course I hadn't noticed "It" but after posting the photo on the forum it was Ron who pointed it out.
Panda in his happy state: However haven't noticed it ever happening since he came into my home. Sheesh maybe he isn't as happy anymore? On the other hand Merlin occasionally (cough cough) appears to be from time to time. PS Thanks for posting this and making me smile at some of the responses. |
Lol Marianne! At least you know he was, uh, happy. |
