yes, we use it. We've been using the Orijen puppy for several months now with wonderful results. Before the recalls, my puppy had lots and lots of problems with tummy and stool and vomitting...was feeding Purina Pro Puppy...Even though they were never recalled, I still think his problems had something to do with the food...
Anyway, since feb, we are feeding the Orijen and things have been great. My biggest problem is getting it. I am in the US and have to have the food shipped to me from a distributor in NJ...so it gets expensive. I see you are in canda so it might not be so difficult. We are now in process of switching to Orijen Adult... there is also info about the food on their website under "white pages" that tells about the ingredients, the ratios, etc.... They ahve sample packs you can try too...Good luck. |
thanks, They actually make it here in Alberta. I can get it at petland here. Thanks I am going to try it. |
Lucky you able to get it so easily! There is another forum I "lurk" around in and one of the people on it actually took a tour of the Orijen plant and said it was clean and well run, etc. I figure if I am going to feed kibble, might as well try to feed the best one I can find!
Good luck. Anxious to hear how your sheepie does on it. Diane |

Their ingredient ratio is 70% meat, 30% fruit and vegys 0% grain is that too high for meat contains? I heard it should be 22-26% protein, fat 13-15% fiber 4%. I am getting a headache. What is the best ratio??? |
Oh, Ron, sorry for the "wierd" statement.... I do alot more reading than posting so I guess I consider myself a "lurker"...the other forum is itchmo and they have alot of info about the recalls and foods...but i just read there and don't post much, so again, call me the "lurker"! |
Oh no offense taken.....
I will just have to adjust your level of oes.org medications a wee bit. |
I want to put a warning out for Orijen and allergies. 3 days ago I upgraded my dog's food to Orijen (a "premium" dog food) from Kirkland Lamb & Rice (a lower quality food). 10 or so minutes after each meal her face would swell up in hives and she would vomit. She has never had any problems with food. I have switched brands, types, etc. several times over the last 4 years. After this happening 3 times, I gave up Orijen for good! I don't know what ingredient causes the reaction, but I just want people to know that even premium, no grain dog foods can cause problems. Watch your dog during and after they eat any time you switch foods. |
