Puppytime. I need help!!!!

Hey all
My husband and I are going to pick our puppy this weekend!!!!! Our daughter is coming with us to meet the puppies and the adults dogs and interact with them. I hope she gives us guidance as far as which one is good for her. Anyway, in getting ready for my puppies homecoming I would like to know what you think are essentials to have. I have a crate, toys, chew bones, pin brush, and comb. What other suggestions do you have? I have the vet lined up. I have a groomer who I met and love. She grooms 14 sheepies regularly and she was able to show me the products she prefers as well as what I need to do to groom at home. Thanks for you suggestions.

having had a puppy for 2 days I would say ear plugs and loads of newspaper come high on the list as does floor cleaner and cloths and patience.
"Heart" came 2 1/2 weeks ago so I know what you will be going through in the next couple of weeks.

I got this great bone (made of material) at Petsmart that you soak with water and freeze, a teething "ring" for dogs. Or make a home made one. She seems to really like it.

I also bought a package of receiving blankets to put in her crate for comfort. They are easy to wash in case of accidents and she has not torn them up (yet)..She snuggles with them.

Some members have suggested a fan placed a comfortable distance from the crate will help keep her cool and provide white noise for comfort.

A clock or a "heart sound" bear for comfort have also been suggested.

I second the earplugs and a good floor cleaner for accidents.

Congratulations...and good luck...

they do like to pee alot. Going from a poodle to a oes 8O but once it clicks they do get. I got pee pads when the pup started for the door and they know that that is the area they are great. Our Sami is very quiet so no ear plugs. My problem was she went to the door and waited and if you never came she did her business so we really had to watch and she is very quiet. Hmmm only once a nite/early morning no one heard her get up and she pood. But if ya gotta go ya gotta go.
our new puppy will go outside with me and wee to "clever puppy" hubby hasnt got the hang that the quick whine and the puzzled look means "wee" or worse still "poo" we are almost out of newspapers I am going to have to knock on neighbours doors tomorrow to find some.

Summer has a white band round her tummy in between the black and when she waddles off down the garden path she looks like she has a ballet tutu on.
She has a lot of our old oes habits like sleeping with her head on the table leg and her head on anyones foot.
She had just pooed then, guess who cleared up?
You sound pretty well set up for the new addition, just make sure you have the same food that the breeder has been feeding when pup comes home so no dietry upsets then.

Best wishes with your new fur baby. :D

Photos too, to post here, plenty of them when bubbie is home.
Good luck - I'm also looking forward to pictures!
Congratulations on your new puppy! It is tiring when they are so young but they grow so fast you will find yourself wishing they stayed small alittle longer!

A ticking clock in or near the crate might help if the pup cries at night...also keeping the crate in the room with you so she can smell you will help...Please watch the fan if you use one. We had an article in the local paper here recently where a small dog, puppy size, put his tongue in a fan and cut it up severly...

Enjoy the time...it goes fast and you will survive!
