one of my moms dogs are scared of my oes even as a pup and still is and all my dog wants to do is play. It never got better. I do not even take her over there any more they keep putting Sami outside and she just wants to be with everyone. |
we have only just lost an oes, so she is used to adult ones. Hubby thinks it is because the puppy is just a puppy.. |
My maltese was deathly afraid of Yuki when we brought her home. She was probably 3. I have never seen her climb on my head, but she did because she was so terrified.
I would gate Yuki up in the kitchen. When she was asleep, my maltese would become a little braver each day and get closer and closer. That safe barrier made things easier for her. Also, bringing out toys that my maltese can't turn down, such as a ball, made them interact together. Everything took time! edit: Here was the pic I took of the first night my maltese got close to the puppy. W/O the gate, she would have never gotten close. |
awww, just look at those pink baby-feet. I love Sampson's pads on his feet... i kiss them, (but only after I've cleaned them with baby-wipes, lol). |
I love the baby Yuki picture!
We have a really small one - our min pin Tazz is about 6 lbs. Tazz also is fragile and has CHF and other health issues. He is 9yrs old, and Chewie is almost 16 months. We also have a basset, coonhound and a large rat terrier/feist in the house. Chewie is a calm puppy, but still, he had his moments! I am still very careful with Chewie and any of the other dogs as well, when Tazz is out with them. They all know Tazz is to be left alone and not messed with. This is something we have been very strict about since day one with each of our digs. Tazz is a bit wary of the bigger dogs, but he knows we are always going to look out for him and keep the others in line. I NEVER leave him out with the others unsupervised. |
I am pleased to say thee is a vast improvement in my yorkie and oes. The yorkie seems to think the oes is lovely. They play rough in the kitchen, too rough for the yorkie, but I think that is because that is oes patch. When Summer comes in the front room for an hour or so in the evening she is on her best behaviour and plays much calmer. Indeed tonight she actually got down to the yorkies level to play tug. So I am much happier that I was in the first place.
When they go out the garden we put Summer on a tethered lead just outside the back door and she lays down until Tilly has done her business and then I pick Tilly up as she gets flattened by this mad oes. So good news all round, and the toilet training is coming along well. |
My Mom has two Silky Terriers, and one, Murphy, loves Finnigan most of the time. Her other dog, Andy, is deathly afraid of Finn and hides under the sofa the whole time he is at the house.
They have been exposed to Finn since he was a puppy, and now it's been over a year with no change in Andy's behavior. Once in while he'll sneak up to Finn and sniff his legs when he thinks Finn isn't paying attention, as soon as the big guy turns around Andy makes a mad dash for the sofa! I know it's traumatizing for Andy and Finney isn't the only one he acts like this around. Good luck and keep us posted if you find something that works for your Yorkie. Kim |
One very happy yorkie tonight. She loves chew sticks but when they are a bit chewed first. Summers teeth must be hurting as she has been chewing a really big chew stick, when she stopped, yorkie grabbed it and ran off with it. Summer couldn't work out where it had gone! |
I am really pleased with both dogs now they are quite fond of each other. Have them together when someone is in the house, but separate them when alone. Summer is quite rough still, but first thing in morning yorkie rushes in the kitchen just to check Summer is OK. Gives her a kiss then goes back in the front room. |
Thats good news!!
Have you seen the Sheepie Day 2 post under general chit chat? We would love to meet them both then!! |
