We would like to adopt an adult male?? sheepdog.

hi everyone. Well, Chad and I have been talking about it and we'd really like to adopt an adult sheepdog, to go along Wrigley. We really think he'd love a canine pal and would like it to also be a sheepdog. We need him/her to be good with children. Is this a possibility?? We'd really love to give another sheepdog a good home.

How do I do this??

Thanks!

I posted this also under a different topic. We have several sheepies available on our website:

I am currently fostering Ernie and he absolutely loves children. He also gets along well with other dogs, I have two males of my own.
Thanks for the link.......we actually are interested in Ernie -
Ernie sez he wants to live in Illinois and have a brother named Wrigley.

He told me so.
I hear it too.
I am really upset to see how many dogs are given up daily, has it always been like this. And lots down in the states do any of them get adopted out to Canada? Or is that way to far.
There would be a few "snags" on adopting from the South to Canada. One of course is the distance the dog would have to travel, we do not fly our dogs to their new owners. The second "snag" would be that we like to keep them fairly close to a foster or board member. There are instances where the adoption does not work, and then we have to get them back into the rescue. If they were in Canada that would be a little more difficult to do, as most of us (Board Members and fosters) are in the South.

I would love nothing more than to have absolutely nothing to do when it came to the rescue. Well, let me clarify, what I mean is that I wish that every sheepie had a furever home with someone that would take care of them and show them the love they deserve. They deserve people just like the ones that are here on this forum. People that welcome them as members of their families, not possessions to be sold and traded as neccesary. While I realize that there are always situations that are beyond someones control, and I feel sorry for those people who have to make a difficult decision to give up a family member that is loved, I also know that more often than not that is not the case.

Rant over.
That sounds like fun for Wrigley. He would love having a big sheepie-brother.

Four years old is a nice age, too......... :D :D
4 years old is a perfect age. My boy Winston who I lost too soon was 4 1/2 and you couldn't ask for a better boy. Good luck on your big brother Wrigley!!
I Was going to talk to my husband Chad about this tonight.........but he got called to work and won't be home until late. I did talk to Betsy though and Ernie sounds wonderful. Not to mention, our kids have posted his picture up on our fridge already from the web-site that Betsy gave me.

Wrigley would really love to have another dog here to play with.........I would love it too!!

I'll keep you all updated. Maybe soon, we'll be a family of 8!!

Talk to you all soon!!
