Also, will the submissive wetting go away? When she sees us first thing in the morning, she wets in her crate. Please help. |

Welcome to the forum I don't think it's normal to walk with bowed legs, and I would definitely have a vet check it out, especially with the tendencies towards hip problems in this breed. Hopefully it's nothing, but I wouldn't wait any longer to get it checked out. I can't comment about the wetting as I have not had experience with this (but someone will come along who will have helpful advice, I am sure).
When I saw the subject line of the thread it reminded me of that Monty Python skit, "The Ministry of Silly Walks". |
Riley just turned 3 and has finally stopped the submissive wetting. And it seems to have stopped with the daily visits from my son's puppy (summer daycare for the pup at my house )
If Sadie is only wetting herself first thing in the morning, I would consider it a case of a small bladder - not submissive peeing. Any chance she could go outside later at night or earlier in the morning? |
She is so cute!!
I'd talk with the breeder and also the vet the next time you go in for a visit. If you don't think something is right it should be checked out. As for the peeing... try to make a dash for the outdoors as soon as you jump out of bed. When they gotta go, they gotta go. |
Peeing first thing in the morning in the crate, could be just puppy pee excitement at seeing you. I don't think it is a submissive pee. Only tiny weanie bladders at that age and maybe get up a bit earlier take her out to potty then all go back to bed. I use to get up at 5.00 - 5.30 in the morning take a baby pup out for a quick pee then go back to bed for awhile till they got older and could hold on better.
Last pee at night was around 11.00 - midnight, pup went to bed earlier, but I would wake the pup for that last potty before putting the pup back to bed for the rest of the night With the bow legs, I would have that looked at by the vet and also talk to the breeder. Keeping a baby pup not over tubby while they are developing is really important and things like no slipping and sliding on floors and running around like a maniac, charging up and down stairs while still a baby helps to protect them while they are shooting up on those legs. |
Thank you for replies.
I actually do have an appointment for the vet scheduled. Hopefully it is nothing. I'll happily take the wetting advice and put it to use. Thanks again!!! |
Hi Sadie's Daddy,
I just sent you a PM, but I wanted to know how the vet appointment went. |

I had to laugh at this part... that is pretty much ALL Sammie does when he first gets up in the morning and I let Stella out to play with him. I finally had to block the stairs off because I was scared he would get hurt... |
My 4 month old OES pup was walking strange then started to limp. Vet said she had a lateral patellar luxation or a knee cap that kept coming out. It required a surgery. I hope this is not the case with yours. Has anyone else heard of this? |
