One Year Ago August 8th...Missing Max

Our beloved Max passed away a year ago Aug. 8th. He was our beloved Cocker Spaniel that lived to be the ripe old age of 18. We raised him from a puppy. He was a fiesty character and knew how to get what he wanted. Talk about smart....he was. My husband taught him to bring in the newspaper...and I think he learned it in a matter of minutes. Only thing is...he would bring us the neighbors papers as well. Every morning we would let him out in the front yard....a few minutes later...there would be 6 or 7 papers on the front step. So...neeless to say....we had to return the papers to thier rightful owners. Most of the neighbors were pretty cool about it....except for one. Oh well.... We fianlly broke him of that so he would just bring "ours". Some of his other talents were: Bringing my husbands boots to him every day before work...then putting them away at night. He could take a empty plastic milk jug and kick it like a soccer ball up and down the side walk...not missing a beat. He loved to play tug of war with the same milk jug too....he was sooo strong!! He also liked to dig up big rocks or clods and put them in a pile...we always said he should have had a job working in a rock quary or something to do with excavating. :-) He had a nack for getting our two others...Andy and the late Roxy...to sing. He would start to howl to the top of his lungs until the other 2 would join in. This would go on for several minutes. He knew how to get what he wanted. He loved car rides and when we got home...if he wasn't ready to get out of the car...he would sit in there with the door open until we bribed him out with a hot dog.. ...he would growl if we didn't bribe him with something he liked to eat. Eventually, he would come in the house....but on his own time. As he got much older....he wanted a midnight snack of warm bread and milk. I'm telling you....he had us wrapped around his paw something fierce. I can't begin to tell you how much bread and milk we went through the last few years of his life. He would scratch the side of the bed until one of us got up and fed him...or he WOULD NOT got back to sleep until he got his treat. As soon as he was done...back to sleep he would go until morning. WHEW!! I'm sure I'm forgetting some of his other talents...but these are the ones we remember the most. I just wanted to share a few of them with you on this one year anniversary of his passing.

WE LOVE AND MISS YOU OLD MAN!! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

Take Care of Roxy for us!! :hearts:

Thank you for sharing Max's many talents. What a character. I am sure he is very much missed in you family, but his memories bring many smiles to your faces. You are very lucky to have had such a great pet for as long as you did. :D
Your stories made me smile, and I hope you can smile over them now. Max lived a good, long life. 18 must be close to a record.
I bet they are howling together again!

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the memories of Max with us. He did indeed sound like he was very special and how lucky he was to have lived to such a grand old age. It's obvious he was so loved and gave back just as much in return.
