We do rally.
Too bad you didn't post sooner - we were at the Waukesha shows all weekend - doing both rally and conformation. I would start out by watching, and also you can get info from AKC's website at www.akc.org Under search just type in rally. Also most clubs and training centers offer classes in rally. There are 4 levels of rally. The beginner level is Novice, and all on leash. Next is Advanced - off lead, jumps are added. Then Excellent - also off lead, harder stations and adds the honor exercise. Also you can give less prompts and encouragement. You need to get a score of at least 70 out of 100 to get a qualifying score. You need to qualify three times at different shows under 3 different judges to get the title. The last is called RAE - you enter both advanced and excellent in the same show and have to qualify in both. When you do that 10 times you get the title RAE. My basset Simon has his RN, RA and is working toward his RE. He got 2 qualifying scores this weekend, so just needs one more for his RE. We even placed 4th in the class on Sunday! Amazing for an 8 yr old Basset. Even the judge was cheering for him when awards were handed out. AND, Leanne and Clay got their 1st leg towrd their RN. We are all thrilled. She has only had him since March, and he had no prior obedience training. (Just a retired show dog! ) Chewie's aunt Bebe is going for her RAE - and got #5 and #6 this weekend too! |
