My latest project (amongst many) is I want to enclose my porch, lay down interlocking brick pavers so that some of the foster animals can enjoy a bit of sun and fresh air. Specifically broken pelvis kitty whom has to spend a majority of her time in a large pen to prevent her from jumping on anything until she heals...told 6-7 wks by the SPCA hospital. I feel badly for her as even the foster cat room has furniture (a futon) and a dresser. Today someone called me and offered to donate pavers!!!! OMG!!!! I went to their home..nice sweet old couple and the stack was higher than me! 5 ft tall and aprox 10 feet wide of pavers!!!! YES I loaded 1/3 of them in my van...a gazillion trips to their backyard with a wheel barrow, take them out of the wheelbarrow and then loaded them in my van. Then back to their yard...stack them in wheelbarrow...place them in van...ect.... After a few hours the old couple came out and offered to help me but I didn't want to put them out especially when I was grateful for the donation. They helped me with the last load. Then home , get my own wheelbarrow, unload a few....haul them in my backyard..unload them...stack them....back again to my van. Puff Puff! Tomorrow I have to go back for the rest. I counted the bricks when I got home....aprox 540....(flexes huge arm muscles on skinny body) Marianne |

Wow you sure are one busy lady with a great big heart and if you want to come cross country I could give you a stack of those pavers also and I'd help you load them |
Just the thought of moving all those pavers made me tired.
I really don't know how you do it all. I wish I had a third of the energy you have. I look forward to seeing pictures of your latest project. |
Hey Maz when are you heading downunder? We need a new outdoor terrace.
Hey spare bed here now, bring your energy and OH tools, the girls want a 2nd story extension to there dog run house while your are here. |
Wow are you wonderwoman or something????!!
How lovely that they donated the bricks. Can't wait to see the pictures! |
Wow, that is awesome. I don't think I would have the stamina to load AND unload all of those pavers. We just built a patio out of those things-540 of them would be quite a bit of money, how nice of them to donate them to you (for such a good cause though)!
Oh, and just a little "if I had to do it again", lay down the weed sheeting under the pavers, it will be well worth the $13. We have gravel, sand, then pavers, and STILL have weeds. |
How nice - and good luck!!! |
Wow! Looking forward to pictures! |
that was really nice of them! Pavers are expensive!!!! How are you ever going to find time between caring for all the fuzzies to put them down though??? Good luck Marianne.
so are the pavers going down on top of your porch area? Or are they extending the porchout into a patio of some sort? |
Wowser Marianne.....youre making me sweat just reading this! small guns on skinny women look fantastic..nice and defined...
but I have to ask how sore are you today ????????? take pics please..... |
Marianne, I love your home improvement stories! That sounds like a great project. Take lots of pictures! |
California Governator Arnold would like an autographed picture please...
Please show stack of pavers to verify world record... My back hurts just thinking about it. |
Here's a photo of the "Ton of Bricks"...LOL
Yes I am sore today!!!! owwww But notice the bulging arm muscles? Photo of veggie garden (had to be raised due to furkids) I built to keep bunnies and piggies in fresh veggies. Finally completed it a bit late in the season so veggies are still small. Marianne |
wow thats a lotta bricks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice muscles there girly!!
ps...they look like they'd match my porch...which id like to add on too...any leftovers, i call first dibs pss...where did you get those cute red boots??? |
You mean these ones? I love them!!! High end rubber boots that give the impression of walking on air!! Funny you mentioned them Darcy as I thought of you when I purchased them!
I walked into a shoe store in the fall wanting to purchase shoes then decided to get more practical boots instead for daily dog walking. I was thinking of you at the time wondering if you would be shaking your head at my choice...pumps? or boots? They were 160 dollar rubber boots (told ya high end!) on sale for 40 dollars! Love sales!!! Decided have I ever changed!!! When I chose more pratical boots than a beautiful new pair of shoes..ha ha! Add your comment Comment Marianne Now it will take me a month or so to finish project pavers and I'll post pics when finished! |
everyone needs practical shoes!!! those look perfect for walking around a dusty or muddy park with the panda girl!! i love the color too, so much better than your average school bus yellow!! |
Wow Marianne! Check out those muscles. That is quite a pile of bricks. I love Blue's expression. He's looks to be saying, "Where did this come from?" lol |
