He flies from melbourne to sydney, then from there to Narita, then onto Fyuyoya (boy those names are weird) So he will be on planes and in airports for a good day and a half before reaching his final destination. I keep asking him if he wants mom to carry his luggage. NO such luck The whole crew manning the new tanker are all travelling together on this far eastern adventure coming back via the phillipines then onto Australia. Don't know when I will see him again, but looking forward to hearing about it when he can be in contact with me. Funny you do get use to them coming and going,I am not so emotional this time when he goes. Ahhh my boy is growing up and so am I |

Awwww...He'll be back in no time...with lots of stories to tell, for sure! And good for you for getting used ot it, and taking it in your stride.
My 15 yr old left for Japan 4 days ago...for a one month visit. It was a non-stop 12 hour flight. He said that at the airport you don't wait for your luggage, but they send it to where you are going. He called last nite (2:35 in the morning) wanting to chat.... He says everything is small in Japan...houses, cars, doorways, people...His 5 foot 11 inch frame is not common. He is a size small or medium here, but a large or x-large there... Funny how both our boys are there at the same time....Maybe they will run into each other, before your son leaves for sea! |
Sounds like a wonderful experience for both these young men |
Tell Jarod good luck, have fun, but BE CAREFUL! |
Nicole jaord is that height, heck no clothes to be brought in Japan then I suppose, wonder if they do cater for X-Large taller folks. Have to tell him to duck when entering buildings now
I wonder how both of them will feel to the amount of people over there, our population here is teanie compared to over there. One thing I did say to him, don't get lost in the crowds, but then again he might tower over them to find his way. Just found out Narita is the airport in Tokyo. Now I hope he learns time zones and I don't get a call in the middle of the night like you did nicole |
Ummm, maybe Jarod is living a double life...??? ....and it's the same jarod!!!
OOOOEEEEEEEEooooooooo how eeeeerie would that be? |
Lots of luck on Jarod's upcoming voyage to Japan. I hope he has a great trip back too.
He'll be back in no time. |
Thanks Elissa, I know he will back and really it is not too bad as it has previously been, I am getting use to all this coming and going.
One good thing after this stint he is qualified then from then on 6weeks at sea and 6 weeks home, Hmmmm Have not worked out if that is a good thing or not. |
You'll have to share his adventures with us here.
I have some friends I worked with many years ago when we were all in London that have moved permanently to Japan. They've been there for quite a few years now and really love it. But...they're both short...LOL |
Hi hope his trip goes well |
Wow, that sounds like such an exciting assignment for Jarod!! I wish him Godspeed.
As hard as it is for a mother raising young children to understand, you do get used to not having your children living in your home. Slowly, but you do get used to it. Darn! Why can't they (and we!) stay young forever!! He'll be home before you know it, full of wonderful stories. Please be sure to share them with us! |
Does Brie get her room back?
What an adventure for your son! I'm glad it's getting easier for you MOM. |
