It works wonders and yet, it's very mild....We've used it on him dry, and wet...and it comes right out with ease. It's also VERY slick and works right through the coat in seconds. I also found that I really dont feel the hair is any softer after I use it on him. Granted he is in puppy coat still. We have also used these products on a senior OES. I know many of you out there are partial to your own tricks of the trade, but I thought I would tell you if you ever wanted to try something new I think this product is great!! Needless to say I have been using SEVERAL detanglers on myself throughout the years. My hair is extremely long and it works WONDERS in my hair!!! Tried these products: Infusium 23 - too many chemicals, left area feeling stiff Lubricant style coat ointment: Too slick to get my fingers through Aussie Hair products "Three minute miracle" : Diluted with water...very sticky Suave Children's Detangler (strawberry): Dry, Sticky, HORRIBLE!! Johnson & Johnson "no more tangles" hair detangler: Mild, easy to get into coat, use wet or dry, didn't leave residue once rinsed, and got small matt out quickest. I have used these products on an adult OES and an OES puppy, with near identicle results... I will now take my lab coat and goggles off...LOL!! I was told a lot of salon products (sebastian, Joico, Matrix, Biolage, Paul Mitchell) are NOT mild and can be harmful to your dog if used on them. I have no idea if this is true or not.....Anyone ??? |

Have you ever came across something called influx (salon) It is great but I have not seen it in years. My mom used it in one of her dogs when a dog had to be bandages up from months on her leg. MATTS YUK. That stuff took it out. Non sticky you could not even tell it is in your hair. I used to sell to to people you ahd kids with long hair worked great. My wholesales no longer carry it. |
I'm glad you found something that works well! When you're using it make sure as you approach a show to watch how much you use - they tend to soften the coat a bit. |
... and be sure you put it in an unmarked spray bottle so the competition doesn't know what you're using! |
I have been very happy w/ the same product on my Angora rabbits |

LOL!!! I was told about that....hehe sneaky...sneaky!! Emily, I was warned about the coat "being soft" and too try and keep away from that at all costs....I think he's starting to blow his puppy coat because it's turning a reddy brown on the ends. I miss it already... |
I've been afraid to use human products on my dogs. Years ago a friend of mine used human products on her dog and it had a massive skin reaction with open gaping sores and had to have serious prolonged medical treatment.
Do you think it might be different for different breeds? Since some have different coat types such as hair versus fur. I can't remember the name of the breed but the fur was similar to a pomerian only it was a medium sized dog. Looked like a snowball (until that happened) and was named that too. Really sweet soft white fluffy dog. |
Thanks for the tip. I don't care if Guinness's coat is soft we don't show, but I have a time with matts, he is now cut to look like a mutated greyhound!!!! |
