j/k, it's Drew Carey. Quote: "[Drew] was very pleased that I called him, and he said he is going to continue the spay-neuter plug for as long as he does the show," Bob tells ETOnline
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20047830,00.html I really like Drew Carey, but am not sure how he will do as host. I think there could have been a better choice. I enjoy Whose Line is it Anyway, but he's the only one that stinks at it. |

I like Drew. it'll be interesting to see how he does. I mean, we've been watching Bob do it for forever now. So Drew's going to have to completely mix it up and break away from what Bob did to be successful, I think.
Has anyone ever attended a taping of Price is Right??? I wanna play plinko!!!! That opens up a question- what is your favorite P.I.R. game? (Sorry Jo, teeny weeny hijack!) |
Iriskmj wrote: Has anyone ever attended a taping of Price is Right??? I wanna play plinko!!!!
I tried to but when I got the front of the line, they wouldn't let me because I had already been on a game show two days before on NBC. I had to wait 2 years to be able to go on a CBS or ABC show or 5 years for another NBC. I wanted to play Plinko, too! I can understand not letting me if I had won on the other show, but, c'mon! If I haven't mentioned it before (I can never remember who I tell things to) the show I was on was the Weakest Link. I got to the final 3 and the 2 guys voted me off. I didn't even get a parting gift. |
Him as a host is going to be interesting. I agree with "Whose Line Is It Anyway". |

I did and it sucked!!!!!! You wait in line all day, they interview every single person!! You have to be all bubbly and goofy during the interview so that they know you'll be a total dork on tv and then you come back at 4:00 to get your name tag and go in the theatre. (It's teeny, tiny!!!) It's taped in real time, no editing. The best part about the whole thing is that after the last person who could get called up is called, the whole crowd just dies!!! It's this group mentality that if I don't get a shot at the big time I'm not even clapping anymore. Muh hah hah!!!! |
This guy on my block got on the Price is Right and won a car. (Ford Escort Station Wagon, I believe.) He played that game where you pick #'s and you will either win the piggy bank, the mid-prize or the car. He really lucked out. He totally acted like a ra ra dork during the interview process and that is why he made it on. He was jumping up & down the whole time. |
Sorry, I don't like Drew Carey. Hated his show and thought he was a bumbling idiot on Whose Line... But when compared to Rosie, I love Drew........... |
LOL
I dunno... did they really need a commedian for the job? I have a feeling he'll be trying too hard to be funny all the time. Someone like regis might have been good... but of course he's waaaay too old. OH! How about that guy who played J. Peterman on Seinfeld? John O'Hurley, I think? I think he's doing Family Feud now, but I think he might have been PERFECT for the Price is Right. I really don't watch TV much though. |

I think he's the WORST thing that's happened to Family Feud. Tim Allen's asst (guy before him) was so much better than him imo (sweet). ...and the guy before that guy! My husband came home for R&R and like the idea of the new host, but then sat down and watched him and said, "uh, maybe not." When he ends the show half of the time, he does this retarded sign language motion for "Feud" and it just drives me bonkers. I think he's somehow linked to Alaska. He's always doing commercials here for things like the electric company (if not electric, it's the phone or gas company). That's jmo though! |
Yeah, I'm not really sure that a comedian was the right pick, but I guess we'll see. And you'll never be able to please everyone...
My college used to have trips up to watch PIR every 2 months or so. I think someone won a car... |

The thing that I find interesting is that Drew is going to tape Price is Right five days a week and then he is hosting a primetime gameshow, 10 versus (whatever). It will be funny to see if he can keep up with this schedule. |

i worked with someone at red lobster way back when that won on wheel of fortune...back in the day of picking stuff out of the vinettes....she said that unlike on tv where you get to actually see the stuff, they just got to pick off of a board that listed the items....they got to view the vinettes an hour before the show and were expected to remember what was what....
she did win the car though...a fiat spider.... |

Did you read that somewhere?I don't know about the Price is Right, it may be taped daily, but I thought that most of these shows are taped in multiples, like on one day of the week, or two a day. Otherwise opening and setting up the cast and crew to tape a single hour of TV gets really expensive. I did read somewhere that Jeff Foxworthy taped all season's worth of episodes of "5th Grader" in just over two weeks! EDIT: I looked for a quote. From Forbes.com: Quote: Foxworthy laid out a litany of demands. The entire season had to be taped in two weeks to let him quickly return home to his family. He wanted $150,000 a show, higher than other freshmen game show hosts. And he wanted to be himself, in all his good-old-boy glory. Burnett agreed and Foxworthy even gets a small stake in the show's profits. If he did say 20 or 22 shows in 2 weeks, that's a pretty good hourly rate!
Not bad for a guy who can't answer the questions himself. |
