I was tearing house apart looking for my lost passport the other day. I never found the passport but I found Clyde's missing pedigree. I always knew his line was from Europe but now I better know how to look things up and what means what on the paper so I've been doing some hunting and found more than I found the first time. I couldn't find too many pics on the internet but I found a lot of references to most of the dogs in his line. I'd elaborate more on what I found but all the Web sites were in Russian, German and Hungarian so I could only find the reference. I'm waiting to hear back from forum member Michael of ShaggyBear in Germany because it appears Clyde has a couple of relatives from his line as well. Anyway, this was kind of fun so I thought I'd post the first couple of pics that I found. This is Clyde's maternal grandfather, Ch. Wuderscher Liebling Bertalan. He's a pretty good looking guy. Clyde's paternal great great grandmother, Ch. Caribbean Queen aus der Alten Noris: |

Clyde says thanks. I noticed his grandpa and he have the same darker coloring. For his age, Clyde's still pretty dark but now I see it's inherited. |
Supercool! Great great grand sounds so old but since dogs can breed at 2 (or younger). .. Are these geezers still around?
Seriously, it must be nice to know where Clyde comes from. Very good looking family. |
Just wonderful Jill Makes it so great to when you can find a picture of the ancestors as well.
Love Clydes Grand daddy, what a magnificient boy. Huge gorgeous coat. Anything from the UK in the background? I have lots of breed books with photos of UK dogs and if there is anything there let me know and I might be able to source a photo. It is wonderful you can trace back, how many generations are you up to now in your search? |

If the Shaggy Bears in the line are Michael's, he should be able get me even further. I haven't hit the UK yet, I'm mostly in eastern Europe. Unfortunately, I can find the least information on his actual parents. I'm trying to get a hold of the breeder to find out more. Val, grandpa appears to be alive and procreating. Great -great grandma is no longer alive but I found a young picture of her from 1987 so it definitely goes back a ways. She's second from the right here: First on the left here: I think the OES of 1987 had much more punk rock hairdos! |
Of course as big hair was very much in style then!!!
Clyde's family are a handsome bunch and I can see where he gets his good looks from! Wonder if you manage to track them down if the whole clan will show up looking for dinner some night? Oh sheesh I've been watching too many movies lately ..... Good luck with your search! Marianne |
those family pictures kill me... cutest things ever |
You could start posting names and see if anybody has any pics that might help. |

That's a grand idea. I'll do that tonight. Do we have any Russians on here? |
Chewie's Dad is a Shaggybear - from Belgium. I will have to dig out his pedigree - we may have relatives here! |

I think I need a translator! |
Here is a link for you Jill that might help also. AND it is in English & a russian site, most of the dogs on this site are from eastern europe, if you are stuck with tracing back they might be able to help you by e-mailing them with some details of what you are searching for in the ancestors. There is also a link page there with kennels all around eatern europe that might be a help there too.

Ooh, thanks Lisa! I found a pedigree database from Croatia that I found some on as well. I'm first trying to work through the shorter end of the pedigree to find pictures of the dogs. I'm gonna make a little pictorial of the family tree. I expect I won't find as many pictures as we go further back so those might just be names.
I'm having way too much fun doing this. I like doing the research because it's just for fun-- no grades involved! |
This is so fun! We have found that Clyde and Chewie are related too! Chewie's dad Luke (Ch Shaggy Bear's Skywalker ) is imported. There is a dog named Shaggy Bear's Kiss in the Ring who is Chewie's gr gr grandma and she is Clydes' gr gr gr grandma!

As nerdy as it makes me feel, I really am having a good time looking all this up. I wonder who else on here is related to Chewie and Clyde?
If I could read Polish, Hungarian and Russian, I feel like I'd really be rocking. I sent some Polish stuff to my dad to translate and I'm waiting for my Russian friend to come and sit down with me to help me post on the Russian forum. Well, actually, I'll have to go to her because she has the Cyrillic keyboard all set up already! |
Wow clyde and chewie distant relatives, wonderful
It's fun Jill not nerdy, especially when you can find past photos of the relatives as well. Nice to look at and see if there is a family resemblance there. I love doing the research and going back as far as you possibly can, so I guess I am nerdy too. I am back to the early 1900's and about as far as I can go with records. |
I've got a handful of pictures, which is really cool (and nerdy ). |
