Professionally or in general? Once my dog had all of her shots, it was always just about when she was dirty or looking rough She didn't need a professional grooming for a long time b/c it was never a nice bath at home couldn't resolve! |
Professionally. She has had a few baths already. She is 6 months right now. |
It's a personal chocie, i think. Each dog's hair grows at a different rate and it would vary with the style/length of hair.
I take mine in to get their nails done, but I've always done their bath and comb outs. I just find it relaxing to comb them out. |
If you're keeping on top of your grooming, you may never need to see a professional groomer (although, you may want to in certain cases).
Barkley is in full coat, and takes a long time for me to wash and dry (mostly dry, I don't have one of the fancy dog dryers, just a hand-held blow dryer), but he gets brushed out once a week, and stays fairly clean and matt free. So, he went to see the groomer for the first time, on his first birthday. He'll probably make 2 trips a year (spring and fall), as long as he's in full coat. If we decide to trim/shave, then I will probably go back to doing everything on my own. |
