new glasses this week.

Now that all the surgery is done I need glasses to read only or use the computer. Does anyone have the transisions? The ones that turn dark when you go out side? Do you like them? and are they worth the price.

Thanks, Deana

Brian had them put in his oakley sunglasses....they look fine during the day and in the sun...but at night I think he looks like a cross between Bono and a geek....... 8O 8)

Poor Brian...hehe...he hates wearing ''regular'' glasses and he thought these would be cooler....I disagree....

but i think on regular glasses they would be fine!
I've had them before and like them. Just know they don't get as dark as true sunglasses, the old ones used to always have a bit of a tint but the new ones get absolutely clear.

My question would be though, unless you are planning reading on the beach why do you need reading glasses with a tint?
I can't get out of the habit of putting them on most of the day. I would have to put them on a neck chain and then on and off all day. The surgery only let me see distance and more color. ????
I have Transitions lenses in my glasses, which I need to drive. Unless you're in direct sunlight they really don't get dark at all. 8)

If you're just needing glasses to read, IMHO, you're wasting your money getting the Transitions. Go with the clear glass, and in the infamous words of ZZ Top: "go get yourself some cheap sunglasses" 8) 8) 8)
My Mom has had the transition lenses for years and loves them.

When I did wear glassesm I went to mall and got a custom set of clip ons that were cut to match the frames, pretty cheap and I loved them.
I have transitions and they are great, I wear a contact in one eye along with my glasses because of cataract surgery and I couldn't stand the sunlight if I didn't have the tint :D
:D Congrats on the new eyes. After my parents had the surgery they went and got the neatest sunglasses they ever wanted. So I would say go get a pair of great sunglasses. :D
Todd has had transitions for years and he loves them. He is outdoors a lot, so they really work for him.

They DO NOT get dark while driving - the auto glass filters the UV light needed to trigger the glasses.
8) Did you get Lasik?
no, I had cadaracts removed in both eyes and the eye lens replaced. Anyone thinking about getting this I would tell you DO IT. I can see better than I have in years. Just the reading part I need  :D
I wear Transitions too. Even though they don't get dark in the car, I really am never squinting though so it does help filter out the sun.

It takes longer to go from the dark to light than vice versa. I sometimes find myself heading into client meetings not realizing that I have "sun glasses" on when I meet with them.

A guy I work with has them and he was supposed to meet me for coffee one morning. He showed up late and I said, Were were you?" He goes "Oh, I was just working upstairs." I looked at him and said, "Don't lie to me, you're tinting. I know you've been outside!" The glasses don't lie.
I had "Photo Sun" glasses about 30 years ago.
They also had "Photo Grey" which didn't get nearly as dark, but didn't have nearly as much tint when not darkened. Yes, they took a long time to change from dark to light as well, and would be trouble when driving into a tunnel.

Of course, those were glass lenses AND they were HUGE. Elton John like. I was sooo hip, but they weighed a ton and a half.
