Hair loss

Does anyone know if cancer could cause sudden hair loss? My OES has two bald spots - they are just above his hips on either side (left and right). There is no visible redness and I haven't seen him chewing or biting this area. The only thing I can think of is he has been laying around more than usual. Any thoughts or advice? :?:

I would definitely see the Vet and have them take a look.
There are a lot of things that can cause hair loss.

I'd be worried about mange or ringworm, or a thyroid issue.

My dog's hair thinned and his nipples enlarged when he had testicular cancer (a Sertoli tumor) that was producing huge amounts of estrogen. Is your dog neutered?

Anyway, I'd call the vet. If s/he doesn't see a problem, be sure to check the thyroid.
Have a complete thyroid panel done. Hypothyroidism is fairly common in sheepdogs but easily treatable.
