Hmm, I wonder if this woman ever worked for Southwest Airlines? I think I know her. (I got tossed off a flight.... without kids) because of a lying Flying Flight attendant. If you've even seen Meet the Parents.... the airplane scene is all too familiar to me. |
|
Well I probably would have been fined or something because after refusing to drug my kid and hearing the stewardess telling passengers that my kid needs to shutup, I would have pulled ghetto joahaeyo out and verbally told her off. I can't be polite in circumstances like that. It's different if I'm the one working and not just a passenger/customer. |
I don't know. Whenever I hear stories like this I always wonder what else was going on to bring it to this level...I never quite believe the people who got kicked off and I never quite believe the flight crew... |
Oh, that just irks me! I have to fly a lot for work, and I am so sick and tired of rude flight attendents. Yesterday I flew from PA to KS. My flight from PA to Atlanta had a 4 hour delay, causing me to miss my connection flight, so I had another 2 hour delay in Atlanta. My flight attendent was so rude that everyone was laughing at her. In a sense don't they work for us? We pay the airline, the airline pays them...
I would have been so mad if I was on that plane. Why didn't anyone speak up for the mom? I had much rather listen to a talking baby than sit next to a fat drunk man that snores the entire flight-I've had my fair share of those! |
What really upsets me is the child was not even crying, just talking.
I would have lost it on anyone who told me to drug my child. Also if did anyone notice the actual title of the aricle... "Talkative Toddler Tossed From Airplane" to me.... that just didn't seem right. When I say the title I was thinking... What the ****?!? lol |
Some of them get an attitude of "I'm not a stewardess, I'm a safety officer."
Do you think this would get someone kicked off the plane? "I've got news for you. Yes, you are important as a director for safety in case the plane goes down or an unruly passenger physically acts up... but bring me my bacteria laden ice cubes and shut up, ok? They guy sitting next to the emergency exit is more important than you are." Of course I'd never say anything like that as someone was telling me that I can't use my own headphones and a new pair will be $4. |
The airlines did not interview any of the fellow passengers, just interviewed the flight crew. Well DUH! CYA big time.
I heard an interview on the radio this week about flying. In times past the planes took on extra fuel for circling in case of delays. Due to fuel prices, they don't do that anymore. If they suspect a flight will be delayed, they won't take off or just cancel the flight. Why? Fuel costs. The extra 1,000+ gallons for the 15 minutes circling would raise ticket prices. (And explains why they can't let you sit around in the terminal....they put you in the plane and hopefully remember to let you take off in an hour or so) With competition the way it is, they have to be a tight wad as possible. Now that just fills me with more confidence to know there is little extra fuel in those birds. |
I would like to defer my opinion until I hear from the other passengers. We always tend to color facts to make us look better, so the true story is probably somewhere in between.
I remember the parents with the out-of-control toddler on the plane. They delayed takeoff while the parents tried to get him under control. After a twenty minute delay, they asked the family to leave. The family was furious that they weren't given more time. The parents weren't even embarassed. The passengers supported the crews decision. People can be jerks. |
Sheepieboss, that's the part of this story that doesn't make sense to me. The woman says they turned the plane around to remove her and her baby. No way. The Phoenix Police Department tried to get Continental to return a plane to NY headed to India to arrest a man who had just killed his wife. The plane had only taken off minutes before. There was never any question that he had committed the murder. Continental refused to land the plane and insisted that the police could work with Indian officials to return the guy. The reason was - in order to land, the fuel tanks have to be near empty. The plane would have had to dump its fuel tanks to land, and no one could guarantee that the Phoenix PD would reimburse Continental for the fuel.
So, if this plane was in the air, there's no way they turned it around for a talkative baby. Even if the plane was in line for take off that seems highly unlikely to me. There's got to be more to this story. |

Yes the rotten ones I have encountered myself act like they have the whole Police Officer holier than though attitude. But man.... if your in first class.... they are soooo nice. |

I doubt it was in the air... probably still waiting to take off. Here is what another passenger has to say "A fellow passenger told WSB none of the other passengers had problems with Garren and that Penland never threatened the flight attendant." |
Now that it has made the news for two days, I'm rather surprised that some of the passengers haven't spoken up about it - one way or the other. |
There was a really really close call in Florida last night. 30 feet.
The plane on the ground missed his turnoff and headed directly across the runway where the place was landing. The controller was the hero. He calmly said "(ID of plane on ground) STOP. (ID of plane in air) Go around, go around, traffic on runway go around." The plane on the ground's nose was across the runway. The plane in the air went directly over it, the miss was by 30 feet. If the plane on the ground had not been stopped, the tail might have been struck by the landing plane. |
How is it possible that a child and mother can be removed from a plane for the simple offense of talking too much, when celebrities can get away with dui's and drugs.......... I think some people have their priorities confused. I don't recall talking every killing anyone.... not literally anyways. Whereas drinking and drugs kill people every single day. Heaven forbid that people would have to listen to a child talk. I bet this flight attendant never had children. I apologize for making this giant leap, I know these two things don't really have anything in common, but I am just so offended right now. Sometimes you just wanna slap people........ I just reread what I have written, and I don't know if it makes much sense, but I just needed to get it out of my system. Sorry guys! |
As a person that spent 4 hours listening to a child say over and over at the top of her voice "I am going to se Grammy. They are going to be glad to seeme?" I have to have some feelings for the flight crew. Having said that I once flew from Seattle to St Louis on TWA. If you ever wondered if there is such a thing as sterage. The answer is yes. The crew yelled if there was more than three people in line for the bathroom. They thought that everyone should be able to see that they would be in the way. Then after announcing that there would be no food service and the beverage service was going to be in 45 minutes. They walked up and down the aisles eating chinese take out and slopping it on the aisle seat people. If their behavior was not bad enough, they all looked like they had all escaped from prison. |
Maybe the airlines should switch their first and second class sections to:
Section #'s 1 for drinkers 2 for travelers with kids under 10 3 for smokers would be nice 4 for everyone else 5 for terrorists, or those that look like potential terrorists Then, remove the curtains between those sections, and replace them with sound proof, odor proof, smoke proof, and bullet proof doors. Yes, it sounds stupid, but unfortunately, it's the only way 'everyone' on board would even come close to being pleased at the same time. My last flight, was like the one described by Ron, only we were never told what happened. When we took off, a little boy sitting across from me on the plane a 757. He was excited, and so was I, but my excitement was from my fear of flying. We started to taxi, and he says, "Faster, faster, faster," and I'm just about in tears, but still smiling. When we were about to land, the pilot had to abort the landing just before, and I mean JUST before, the wheels touched ground! Back up we went, and you could tell that pilot was pi$$ed. After all the talking, drinking, smoking, complaining, etc...on that long flight (8 hours to Hawaii), I'm just thankful that THAT TALKATIVE LITTLE BOY, and the rest of us are here to tell that story! God bless. |
I love the line "I'm not going to drug my child so you can have a pleasant flight." Um, I think it should be understood that EVERYONE should be entitled to a pleasant flight. I like that she has NO concern over the fact that people other than herself would like a pleasant flight. I don't want to hear anyone screaming, crying or babbling loudly and incessantly either. I'm already miserable in a plane. I'm cramped and uncomfortable but I also am conscious to be courteous to those around me and don't do things to disturb them. I think whether you're flying with children or not, that should be a code to live by when flying. |
We won a trip to Barcelona several years ago. It was a corporate trip, so everything was set up for us - no changes allowed.
We flew back on Iberia. We left at night. I don't drink coffee, but I do have to have caffiene or I get horrible headaches (the legacy of years of allergy meds). I asked for a Diet Coke. "No Coke. No Coke." No other colas either. We call her the Coke Nazi. How do you run out of colas? And breakfast. |
