We got home from the Girdwood Forest Fair late on Sunday night, and the first thing we noticed when we came up our driveway was that our gate at the top of the stairs was torn down....then we saw that the barbaque grill was tipped over. uh-oh Well....the nasty mix of bear-drool and grease from the grill was bad ENOUGH...but in our distracted (and exausted) state we failed to stop the sheepies from going into the yard (the grassy fenced part where they go to potty) without checking the grass first. Only when we looked over and saw them both ROLLING did we realize our error! Thank god it wasn't bear scat....just pee. YUCK!!!! The stink is just AWFUL!!! Like rotten fish mixed with ammonia! Soap and water dampened the smell a bit....but not compleatly....any suggestions????? |

Shaving, then sun screen. Really you know my solution to everything, a viniger bath. Then they smell like pickles You like pickles. |
OH WOW, can't help there we don't have bears here so I can't imagine the smell of the doggies rolling in bear whiz.
Anything like Koala pee? At least that has a reasonable eucalyptus smell to it on there coats. Try a mist bottle with a few drops of essential oil in it and mist over the coat then just rub off with a towel. Lavender or eucalyptus oil would smell pretty good rather then bear pee. |
Bear Whiz!
Does it come in a little pressurized can? |
Poor Laurel.
I have an odor neutralizing shampoo - made for skunk accidents.I bet it would work on bear pee. Lisa - only you would have pleasant smelling bear pee! It made me laugh - eucalyptus scented urine. |
This is a recipe for "de-skunking" shampoo. It would probably work for Bear oders also.
1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide ΒΌ cup baking soda 1-2 teaspoons liquid dish soap Wash your dog promptly really working the soap into the heavily sprayed areas (use your nose for this!). But watch out for those eyes and ears! Leave on for about 5 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Occasionally, it requires more than one application. Good luck! Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Sharkey |
Jennifer posted the same recipe I'd use. Or grab some Nature's Miracle or whatever you have on hand for pee/poop/vomit accidents in the house. With either one, shampoo afterward and use a conditioner. Both pull oils from the hair and dry the skin. |
I have a serious BEAR POOP problem at my house. There is a balck bear that makes my yard his morning potty stop and at night when I get home and let the dogs out they seem to have an un erring way of finding it, PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wait a minute-- koalas are that close to you? Are they ambling around your yard? Do you ever touch them? Can you send me one? |

Bear Whiz & Bear Poo in your yard?? That's the first time I've heard this on the forum. You just never know what to expect around here. |
Oh bet the smell was bad but glad you or your doggies didn't meet your visitors face to face |
Poor you.
We have bears here, so I can understand you |

Lisa - only you would have pleasant smelling bear pee! It made me laugh - eucalyptus scented urine. And Koala poop too, sort of clears the sinuses if you happen to step in it under a gum tree. Jill sending one over, there noisey critters that growl of a night time when they are awake. They sleep most of the time and only wake to munch on gum leaves and mate. What a life. |
