My introduction was "I have a sheepdog. Can I see your sheepdog?" The nice couple graciously let Molly out of the vehicle for me to see. Kathy said that she got Molly as a rescue in TN. After about 15 minutes of sheepdog chat, we finally introduced ourselves to each other. We were both excited about finding playmates for our sheepies. I showed her a picture of SamSun so she wouldn't think I was making this whole story up. LOL! Kathy invited SamSun to come over and play with Molly in their fenced in back yard!! We exchanged phone numbers and I thanked her very much for letting me see Molly. My question now is should I call her to set up a playdate or should I wait for her to call me?? Here's Molly!! |

I can just imagine what the other couple thought as you come out of the car saying I'VE GOT AN OES!!!! That is so me.
YES, DEFINITELY call her. If she didn't want to hangout/have a playdate, she wouldn't have given you her info or she will just tell you a better date when you throw one out! How exciting!! I think everyone should have a sheepie near them!!! |
I would do that too, Hey you, I have a sheepie too.
Yes go ahead and ring them, what a find another sheepie for yours to have a play date with. Tell them about the forum too. |
You are so me!!!! I would have done the same thing too!
Yes, call her! Marianne |
I've been known to do that. In fact, we were in the middle of town getting into the van when I spotted a guy walking an OES across the street. So what do I do? YELL across the road. "HELLO BOBTAIL!!" "I'M A BOBTAIL MOM!!!" The guy totally ignored me! The dog on the other hand tried to get to me! He knew I was talking to him and he really wanted to go meet his adoring public BUT the person at the end of the leash could have cared less.
Humpff Carl has since pointed out that perhaps the man only spoke French. So now I'm practicing how to say "I have an Old English Sheepdog" in French! lol I say "Call her!" Figure out a few times that are good for you so you can say "how about Wednesday night or Friday night"....I hate the well....whatever is good for you stuff. Good for you spotting a sheepie!! It's amazing how exciting that is. |
Imagine looking in your rear view mirror and notice that you are being followed!!
Then when you get home a mad lady jumps out of her car and says I have and OES too! Hillarious!! I haven't seen other people with a sheepie near me and had the urge to do that yet! can't wait to see one now..... Yes call her.... your sheepie needs you to |
Oh, that is too funny! Yes, call her! (It's like dating...do you wait 3 days until you can call? ) |
So did you invite them to join the forum????? |

I thought the same thing. |
That is so funny! I would have been scared too, if I were those people and someone followed me into my driveway!
But the same thing happened to me last week. Our driveway is about 50 feet long, and I was out with Drez in the yard near the bottom of the driveway. An SUV passed the driveway, suddenly stopped and backed up, and the guy calls out the passenger window, "Is that a sheepdog?" (Drez is shaved down, her hair is only about an inch long.) I said yes, and he said, "We have 2 of them!" I said, "You live around here, have 2 sheepdogs and I didn't know that??" Turns out he lives just a few miles away, that they had 3 sheepies before the 2 they have now, and his parents had sheepies. Geesh! Right in my own back yard!! I told them about oes.org but don't know if they've logged on yet. Maybe they're just reading, not sure about all this sheepie online stuff yet! If they are on here - welcome! Join and let us know about your sheepies!! |
Absolutely - Call them!! Invite them to our TOES picnic too. |
ROTFLMAO.............. In the picture Molly looks like she is saying to herself :
" Who is this crazy person and does she really have a sheepie ?" I love it !!! You should call her and say you were wanting to invite her to join us on the forum . Then when she reads this Tread she will know we are all crazy sheepie lovers ...... Antoinette |

Yea, what the heck! Push yourself on them...isn't that what a sheepie would do Totally call her for another playdate |
Tasker's Mom wrote: So did you invite them to join the forum????? I mentioned the forum to her. She says she has been on here before but I'm not sure if she just read posts or if she actually signed up. |

That is so true! LOL!! Thank you all for your input. Now if I can just clear my hectic schedule so I can throw out a few dates for her. |
There is no protocol when setting play dates with sheepies. Just call her Tammie and then come armed with your camera and tell her we want pictures! |

Tammy I printed out one of those invitations from Belinda. I will give it to Cathy when I see her again. |
That's such exciting news! |
I have a friend who went to the dogpark and saw a sheepie and golden and she started to look around for me. She realized it was not me but when she told me about it I gave her my number and told her if she meets them again to give her my number. Right now I'm trying to setup a playdate with Betsy who I met here. At the dogpark that I go to, I met Abe and Goggley the sheepie and made some new friends. What is it with crazy sheepie owners??? Call and set up a play date and make new friends. |
Try: "Bonjour: j'ai un berger anglais" |
