I started George in training at 13 weeks.
Others may be able to answer the training questions better but i have always called George and when he comes reward him with lots of praise and a treat. He still has his moments when he doesn't come back but he gets there in the end!! |
He can definitely go to class.
Usually puppy socialization or 'kindergarten" through 12-16 weeks. Then most are ready to start regular classes. As far as the running away - don't let him loose if he doesn't have a reliable recall. Have him in a fenced area or on a long line. If you call him, make sure he does come to you. No chasing him, or grabbing him - he has to come to you. Then love him up, give him a treat, or whatever works! If you know he isn't going to listen to you when loose, you are actually better NOT calling him. (In the fenced yard or other safe area.) Pottying - go back to basics. Limit the amount of house he has access to. Shut doors or put up baby gates to keep him where you can see him. Put him on a frequent potty schedule, go out after drinking, meals and naps. Then as he remasters the habits, let him have more house privileges. Good luck! |
Thanks for the info! Will have to go back to basics with the potty training... but that's ok....and I will look into classes. He is a sweetie!!
Thanks again!! |
