I've always thought mine were pretty good character judges. Perhaps Simon is too. |
I agree! I think these guys sense things that might not be visible to us.
Simon sounds like a smart boy! Marianne |
Oh yea....they know!! I always go with my dogs judgement of people on the first meeting. If my dog isn't happy with them...I probably wouldn't be happy knowing them either.
I also wonder if the people that seem really nice and want to greet my doggers but they back off...I wonder if they don't smell "different". If smell is such a strong memory trigger for us wouldn't it then be an even bigger "trigger" for our dogs? Perhaps they had a bad experience with someone that "smelled" that way. So they aren't really making a judgement call on the person but on the smell. Ok, maybe a bit of over thinking going on here. I just have one very shy guy (afghan hound) that if he wants to meet and greet someone it is a BIG deal! So if he snubs someone I really don't think much of it....but if he wants to meet someone...hey I have to know this person!!! |
Everytime I see this post's heading I laugh. I keep thinking runs = diarrhea!
It IS all about butts! |
I agree that these guys are great judges of character....the ONE and only person my boy Spencer EVER growled at turned out to be VERY drunk and high on drugs!
However.....my girl Abby, who is a rescue, also has some very odd fears and freak out buttons that can have nothing whatsoever to do with the person themselves! Some examples are: feather boas, dreadlocks, flappy long coats, extreme hight, certain hats, high-pitched voices, and some languages. (Japanese freaks her out ) Yes....my girl is wierd...but we love her. |

Our dogs go to outdoor art fairs with us all summer long, and they get to meet a VERY diverse collection of people. |
