Hi Patricia:
First - sign her up for obedience class. There are a lot of classes starting now and you should be able to find one in your area. The instructor will be able to advise you whether a puppy class or a standard obedience class is best. If you need help in finding a good OES trainer, contact the placement director at New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue (phone number is on this page http://www.neoesr.org/neoesr.htm ). She is located in Lincoln MA and will be able to give you training advice and may even know of a good OES trainer in your area. As for the biting - keep a lot of chew toys around. As soon as she starts to mouth or bite at someone, redirect her by giving her a chew toy to bite on. When she starts chewing it (instead of you) give her lots of praise. Our house is currently decorated with chew toys (one is within grabbing distance no matter where we are). When Cassiopia (1 year old) starts to mouth us, we immediately redirect her to an appropriate item to chew on. It is definitely helping. Good luck and keep us informed as to how Brandy is doing.
