our girl got spayed

My 9 month old oes got spayed today. Everything gone great thank god. She is sleeping away and looks so sad. My other dog will not go near her, took a sniff and gone. How long are they sore for?

She should be feeling brighter in a day or so, just make sure no charging around till the stiches are removed.

Your other dog is sensing she is sore at the moment, so that is why a sniff and walk away from her :D

Glad all went well.
That's great news she came through it well... your other dog probably smells the anesthesia and antiseptic.

Usually by the next day my girls were ready to pick up where they left off. We had to try to keep them calm for about 2 weeks so they healed properly then bring them back up to the normal routine over the next week or so.

We have two littermates and they were spayed at the same time. They looked pretty pathetic. The top picture was the day before... the bottom was the afternoon we brought them home. http://oesusa.com/emma-darb51304.jpg

You'll probably be surprised how perky she is tomorrow.
My hope she is hopfully going to feel better soon. Its been 5 hours since I picked her up and she is still sleeping. I did get the brush and comb and got to the spots on her legs that she hates :D and she did not even move. Gotta like that. I did remember when my poodle got fixed she slept with her head on her paws and her bum in the air. Her sister lives down the street from us and she also did the same thing. It was the funnys thing I ever saw.
Puppy has to sleep off the drugs. There shouldn't be much if any pain. The vet gave you instructions about pain, I assume.

You should put a t-shirt on her and tie it as low as possible down her body to keep her from licking her wound. If she licks she can worry the stitches causing swelling around the stitches and possibly causing infections or granulomas to form. Hopefully she won't need an E-Collar (lampshade) around her neck to keep from licking.

She'll probably be hungry tomorrow. Don't overload her. So slow, better not enough food than too much.

And of course keep her from jumping........good luck. Clancy came home from her spay and jumped out of the car and tried to climb the fence to get back into the yard. What a goof.
what a nite. Between my husband and dog not sure who was worse. Dave just could not sleep (to hot) us Canadians not use to these fast heat spells.
And the dog doing circles on the bed and trying to lick her self t-shirt did not work got her self all mixed up in it. But we made it through the nite. The vet did give us pain killers for 3 days just a form of tylenol. Never got that with a poodle? While she finally is eating and drinking and looking like her self. AND barking at the kids next door, which she never does. They all got in trouble between kids and dogs 7:30am cranky everyone.
If it makes you feel any better, I know firsthand what you're going through.
I've been trying to keep one of mine from licking incisions too.
She's got 5 of them with the most bothersome is on her hind leg.

It will get better... I promise.
:ghug: I remember they are supposed to take it easy and not roughhouse or climb stairs for I think it was at least a week. I know I barricaded the stairs but she still pushed her way past after the first few days. I ended up sleeping downstairs with her the first few days so she wouldn't try to climb stairs. These sheepies you sure gotta love em.
Glad to hear your little girl is feeling fine. Dutch had her op about May and in a couple of days she was her old self , didn't have to wait for stiches to come out they were the disolving kind . I bought a cheap pair of boxer shorts and put them on her and then made a hole in the top and strung a ribbon from there to her collar to keep them on :D
Good idea Jean - cute too!
