This morning, as always, I got up, started the coffee and proceeded to go to the back door and let the dogs out. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my Beardie, Cosmo, (4yrs old nuetered at 4 months) hike his leg on the side of my leather couch. OMG!!!! I immediatly yelled NOOOOOO! and rushed to the door to let him out continuing to yell "NOOOO! POTTY!!! NOOO POTTY!!" I'm sure I sounded like a crazy banshee. I immediatly grabbed cleaner and scrubbed the hardwood floor. I started to "clean" the sofa but it wasn't wet at all and there wasn't that much on the floor considering he hadn't been out all night.... Cosmo just began lifting his leg more often than not just maybe a week or so ago. He still squats to wet over Pearl, my OES in the yard. I am hoping this is an isolated incident since I have not found any "stains" on the floor before this. Any suggestions??? |

It's great that you caught him in the act, so to say. I would have done exactly the same thing.
I would limit his space in the house and do a mini retraining of what house training is all about. I have had to do that before, and had good success. They get lazy or something sometimes! You want to stop this before it gets to be a habit and before you have pee smells they want to remark all over the house. |
I think if you haven't had this problem before that this is probably an isolated incident. Maybe there is some kind of odor that triggered his behavior. You might want to get some kind of odor neutralizer like Nature's Miracle, and treat the area just to be on the safe side. |
my Fergus has (age 5) has just begun squatting & peeing in the house. When he does this hw SOAKS the rug! He has been doing this for approx a week.
We have a beach house & he does this there & at home. He never did this before! He just does this w/ no warning. He often does this after just being outside & peeing out there. I am beside myself! Both houses smell SO bad! I did put a call in to my vet. Any thoughts on why he is doing this all of a sudden? Also, what are the best product to take the smell out? I have limited him to the kitchen (for now) & take his water bowl up at night. HELP! THX! |

How old is your dog - he may have some kind of infection when he is is unable to hold it? Have you heard from your vet? Were there any big changes in the family - move, new dog, new born, etc.? There are a lot of reasons he can pee all of a sudden. I hope he doesn't have any medical issues though. |
