Sheepies ribcage ...

last night Ollie just didn't want to go to bed, so he's laying on the floor on his belly all feet on the ground, so i say come on Ollie, bed time... nothing, I pat his bum... no, so I gently put both my hands on either side of his rib cage, and kinda pat him, but in a way to pull him up, make him move forward. He growled a warning growl and I thought mmm I'm not hurting you, now come on up, so I kinda pushed him forward and he snapped at me and I mean snapped at me. I was so shocked, I was near to tears. Ollie gave me his paw to say sorry, now I know he was growling to tell me something, and it was clearly a warning growl which I would chose to listen to, but seeing as I wasn't hurting him I thought listen Mr I'm the boss not you - what did I do wrong ?

I know nothing but..
Maybe it's something to do with what he ate- did he have anything different as a birthday treat that could have given him a bad tummy?

Hope he is ok, how is he today?
Maybe you caught him wrong and pulled some fur or caught his side or something????

Maybe he didn't want you to do it again so snapped to say Look I've told you once don't do it!!

Maybe he's just having an off day and couldn't be bothered to move!!!

maybe I haven't got a clue so should just shut up!!!!
ha ha knowing Ollie, its I'm not moving, bog off you daft lady lol He's fine now, all love and kisses, I was more worried that I had touched him somewhere and hurt him ?
dont worry. Panda did that to me this past winter...i tried to nudge her out the back door and boy did she give me a warning growl and snap....and hasnt done anything like that since....i did put her in a ''time out'' though...

probably just a mood swing...
Had he been sleeping before you told him it was time to go to bed?

I don't think this really has anything to do with who has the alpha position. You were forcing him to do something he didn't want to do. He gave a warning growl and when you persisted, he snapped. It's the only way dogs really have to communicate their displeasure with us. Next time he needs to be moved, grab a small tasty treat and bribe him to come along instead... it leaves both parties happy.
Maybe it was one of those uncomfortable almost ticklish spot, like how it hurts when he bang our funny bone? I growl when I hit mine.
Maizie's has done that to me too!!! I was trying to get at the front door one day the postman had a parcel for me and she was sitting by the door .She wouldn't move so i tried to pick her up and she growled at me!. I didn't hurt her picking her up but she didn't like it. But when i told her off she soon came back trying to give me kisses... I just turned my back on her to let her know who is boss...
sheepies can be soooo stubbon sometimes!!! but we love em :hearts:
