My name is Gilles, from Laval, Quebec, in Canada near Montreal I love British cars, own 3 of them and am even President of the largest French car club devoted to British cars. (www.carvaq.org) What does this have to do with OES? Well with all these English cars, I needed an English dog of course...enter Roxie. I lost my previous dog, Grisou, last January, after 10 years. He was a mixed breed with bearded collie. We always drove around every day in my convertible. When he died suddenly one morning, I was devastated. So when I decided to find another co-pilot, I was looking for another scruffy bearded face, which doesn't lose its hair all over the house & car like a golden retriever or a lab. I couldn't find a pure bearded collie and finally thought of OES since a friend of mine in Lac St-Jean owns 2. I found a great owner near Montreal, who had the couple and breeded them for the first time, the puppies were almost ready to be sold. 5 females and 2 males. I just fell in love with Roxie, nicknamed Pirate by the breeder, because of its black eye. She came home March 16 The first month at home was tough with house training but now, after 3 months she is just great. Already at 46 lbs, a ball of energy! She just loves the convertible. I made a special harness for her to ride in the space behind the 2 seats and we go daily to the dog park so she can run and play with her friends. Everybody just loves her and she draws more attention than the car! People just smile when they see her fuzzy face blowing in the wind sitting behind me. She's starting to love the pool and swims really well, chasing the tennis ball. Long live Roxie... Gilles |

she's a little sweetheart. Welcome to the forum. THe people here are great and give lots of good advice. How old is she? Please post more pics |
Your Roxie looks great sitting in the car.
Good choice to get an OES - most love riding in cars, and they always attract lots of attention! Can't wait to hear more about Roxie and see pictures as she grows. |
She is adorable - I think your avatar is fabulous!! congrats on your OES - you will love the BIG personality!! |
Hi and welcome to both you and Roxie!
He's adorable and you won't believe the chuckles you'll get when Roxie grows bigger and people smile as you pull along side of them. On second thought, you had a big shaggy dog in a sports car previously, so you know what I'm talking about. I currently drive a van since I have three (a seat for every dog) but previously I drove a Fiero. Merlin started travelling with me when he was 8 wks and by the time he was 2 he sat comfortably next to me - although his head was touching the roof and he resembled a large person sitting next to me. Have fun and congrats on Roxie! Marianne and the boys |
Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us.
I look forward to more sheeper/convertable pics in exotic locations! |
Wonder new copilot, but you failed to mention what you are driving...and of course it's color.........thinking back to my MGB in BRG.

Welcome to you and Roxie from St. Louis! |
Welcome to the forum and congrats on Roxie, she's adorable! |
Thanks everyone for the warm welcoming
I'll have a few pictures of Roxie up as as soon as Ron approves them. They were taken when we first got her at 2 months and over the last 3 months. By the way, for SheepieBoss, I drive a rare TVR S2, hand-made sportscar built in the UK since 1947. British Racing Green of course... You can see pictures here: http://carvaq.org/cpg148/thumbnails.php?album=28 Gilles |
Roxie is adorable oh and welcome to the forum |
What a fun little girl she is, welcome to the forum and sending Hi's from the land downunder. |
Very nice........I see MG influence in the front, nice new line in the rear. Nice leather interior instead of the rags before. Are they still hiding the batteries under the back shelf? Didn't have a dog when I had the MG...couldn't afford two money guzzlers at the same time. |
What a luck dog. She must be having a great time in a convertable. especially such a nice one. |
Here are the pictures of Roxie!

Welcome to the forum. What a perfect mascot you have with Roxie!
There's something particularly fitting about an OES in an English car. My Mini car club used to have dog drives. We went on one and Clyde was the ultimate hit. I wish I had pictures. Actually, I wish I hadn't sold my Mini. At least I still have Clyde! |
I used to take my first OES in my MG Midget. That was 30 yrs ago. It also was British Racing green. TVR's are really cool...you don't see those every day. Roxie has a left eye patch...we seem to see more right than left. My Nigel who is coming home on the 18th has a right eye patch. So did my first OES. Great pictures!!! |
Hi Gilles,
Were practically neighbors. I live in Kirkland. Your dog is adorable. Can you tell me where you bought your bundle of joy. I am looking for an old english myself. |
Welcome to the forum! Aw, Roxie is a cutie patootie!!! |

Welcome from San Francisco! |
Welcome |
OMG maybe that is why I married a Brit! First for the Old English Sheepdog and second for the Lotus Super 7 in my garage.
From Baton Rouge, LA (I am a native Louisiana and my husband is from England) welcome to the forum. |
Old English sheepdogs love to ride in British cars!
My parents had a French Blue Triumph Spitfire (it had both the soft top and hard top option). Our OES Prince loved to sit in back( it just about fit at 85 lbs ) Favorite touring was to the local bank drive up window for a withdrawal of Milk Bones. Welcome to the forum and happy touring! Do you have road rallies at you club???????????? |
Welcome!!! Great pictures too! |
Welcome from NJ!
Love Roxie's pirate patch! She is gorgeous! I had a maroon 1963 MG Midget (will have to find a photo to share) I have always regretted selling it! Sue |
