I noticed that when she sleeps, she leaks a little urine. I bought her to the vet. He said that it is urinary incontinence and put her on DES 1mg pills. I think DES is Diethylstilbestrol. She has been on the meds for about 3-4 weeks. Suddenly, she has nearly stopped eating. If I feed her from hand, she will eat some of the food but not all. I always feed her in the morning and she hasn't every refused to eat. I gave her a "cookie" (Milk Bone) and she ate it up when she was refusing to eat her regular food! Should I try to change her food? Is this a behavior thing or does the medicine I have been giving her causing her to not have an appetite? Please help me with my "little baby"! If you can't help out...could you refer me to someone who can? |

Could the meds be affecting her taste buds so the food now tastes bad? Maybe you could try different foods to see if it improves her appetite, or try something really smelly like liver. |
With all the food recalls I would be wary of forcing a food that the dog doesnt want to eat. There could be something wrong with that particular batch of food and your dog realizes it. She isn't refusing all food, so I would try another brand of food or at least a new bag of your current food. |
Although Simon was not on meds he did stop eating. I mix in a little wet food in with his dry now to get him to eat. |
I brought Rheba in to the vet. IT turned out to be a little bit of an infection and not the medication.
She's getting better. Hopefully it will get cleared up soon. |
